Hi ladies. I'm in severe pain from my head and was just prescribed percocet from an ER doctor who pretty much said take as little as possible at your own risk because you're in the first trimester. I took it in the 2nd and 3rd tri with my previous pregnancy, but never the first and I'm VERY nervous to take it but im in excruciating pain, I can't function, sleep or anything. I dont know what to do. Tylenol does NOTHING to touch this pain whatsoever and i know motrin is a total no no. Help, I dont know what to do ugh

I found an article that sounds pretty trustworthy.
What Are The Effects Of Percocet In Pregnancy? | LIVESTRONG.COM

It's a tough call, but if you are in severe pain and can't function then that isn't good for you either! So I would go ahead and take it to try and get some rest!!

Is it a bad headache that you are experiencing or did something trigger this??
Hope you feel better very soon!!

According to safefetus.com it is a category B drug, so I'd think it would be okay to use. The only thing it talks about is that with prolonged use, babies can become addicted, but if you are just using it to kick that horrible headache, then I would think it would be fine.

I hope you are feeling better very soon!

I had to take pain meds a couple of weeks ago. There is a risk, the problem is there isn't enough scientific data for use of certain drugs in pregnancy. If you are in severe pain I say take it, because I most certainly did. There are many woman that have certain pain issues that have to take these powerful drugs the entire pregnancy.
