One of my clients today told me to start using almond oil..... everywhere....... All places we could get stretch marks, AND the spot down stairs that will rip... you know where I'm talking about She said she used it down there every pregnancy (she's tiny and her baby's were huge) and she barley tore at all, I guess maybe the oil softens the area maybe helps with the elasticity of you skin?? Also she never got one single stretch mark, this woman is about 5'0" and MAYBE 100lbs she gained 50lbs all three times, I know stretch marks are genetic, but whatever I'll try anything I can!!
Almond oil is great! I used it on DD when she was a baby. I will be doing perineal massage this time. I didn't with DD and I had an episiotomy for forceps but I would like to try and soften up any scar tissue for this birth. You can ask your partner to do it when you are too huge to comfortably do it yourself
I've gotta try that! I've been using cocoa butter lotion every other day to avoid stretchmarks. I need to start using it more. Maybe i'll alternate with the oil and the lotion... Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for posting this. I will definitely have to try it. I'm only 5' and didn't hit 100 lbs until my senior year of high school. My pre-pregnancy weight was about 110. Needless to say, this has me a little worried about stretching. Although, I don't think my sister ended up with a lot of stretch marks when she had her son and she isn't that much bigger than I am.
Sounds like something worth trying! Thanks for sharing! I'm going to do everything in my power not to tear! I'm not afraid of it because of the pain, but more because I don't want to have to transfer to the hospital for "repairs"! *cringe*
As for stretch marks, my mom got them, so I'm sure I will too, but we can do what we can, right?
yes, thanks for sharing - but how do you deal with oil all over your body? lol Do you stay naked until it's dried off? o.O silly question, sorry
I forgot that important detail!! She said she used it right after her shower while she was still wet, then had a special blot towel different from her normal shower towel

That makes sense - like a paper towel I guess... you should probably wait a little while at least though, before you blot it off. It does need to get into your skin to work.
I always go with the genetic theory myself but hydrating the skin helps big time. I am a firm believer in that. I use that oil on my DD's hair lol!!! Never thought of using it for the bod wonder if it would leave oil marks on shirts etc!
I haven't tried Almond Oil, but I like Belli's stretch mark oil! It doesn't leave me feeling all oily. I just put it on after I get out of the shower and then I get dressed. Who knows if any of it really works, but hey, it can't hurt and it smells nice and it's soothing.
I used almond oil on my kids when they were babies and really liked it. I'm prone to stretch marks so not sure how much good it would be in preventing, but it definitely couldn't hurt to have nice hydrated skin! It's also handy during birth. My first midwife had a bottle of it nearby to act as lube during the pushing/crowning stage. I only got a "skid mark" with both kids (and they had big heads).
I feel so lame asking this. Can you get any sort of infection from massaging the oil on your "lady parts"? Just want to make sure I wouldn't be inviting a yeast infection or urinary tract infection or something.
if she didn't get stretch marks or tear, i'm gonna say it's genes.
i didn't get stretch marks or tear at all with my 10.9 lb baby either (he also had his arm up by his 15 inch head, YIKES!) and i gained 50 pounds. some of us get luckier than others. i never used any sort of oil or cream...
don't hate!

I recently got stretch marks on my stomach from gaining some weight over time, but I have been using cocoa butter and bio oil and I have noticed a huge difference, and they are starting to go away. I know a lot of people who use bio oil to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy and they said that it worked. Also, I have heard of people using bag balm. I would like to try the almond oil though because my sister got a lot of stretch marks with my niece, but my mom never got any stretch marks and she had me and sister (twins) and my brother. I just want to prevent getting even more stretch marks than I have now.

You're super woman! Did he come out slowly? KWIM? DS came out fast. The OB told me to hold off for a second with pushing, I think to help me stretch, but I didn't and tore.
