I learned my lesson. I know I wasn't supposed to, but I was determined to do some garden maintenance this past weekend. I felt fine when I was working in the yard,... and of course if I wasn't pregnant, this would have been normal yard work... but, I must have overdid it, because when I went inside and sat down, my lower back hurt pretty bad. A couple days later, that went away,...

but my right side of my butt still hurts REALLY BAD even now, almost a full week later. when I turn particular ways or shift my weight, or a lot of the time when I walk,... or try to get up or down from a chair! it's not getting better at all, in fact I almost think it's getting worse! I've tried heating pads, taking a not-too-hot bath... I just don't know what else to do!

obviously I can't take pain killers... some friends suggested tiger balm and epsom salts (separately) but both of those say on the label "consult a physician before using if you are pregnant". I see my new pregnancy doctor on Monday, so I can ask him then I guess... but I'm in a fair amount of pain periodically (ie when I do certain motions) all day, everyday, for a week now.

I almost wonder if I should try to see a sports doctor or something like that? or are they just going to tell me "sucks to be you!" and there's nothing I can do but wait for it to heal, which appears to be an extremely slow thing?? usually when I overuse a muscle or pull something a bit, a couple days later it slowly starts to heal, but seriously, it's not healing.

(next time I go in the yard, I'll work much shorter amount of time, ask my DH for more help, and I'll get a stool. assuming I can get out there anytime soon given my injury...)

This kind of sounds like a pinched nerve. If you really irritated things in your back, it can take quite a while for the inflammation to subside enough to get relief. It is possible that a chiropractor could help. Some people also experience a lot of pain like this in pregnancy, not because of injury, but because of the extra weight and stress on the back. I hope you find relief soon!

I was gonna say sciatica. You can take Tylenol, right? Also, try Thermacare patches, i have arthritus in my lower back, & they've been a life saver!

I feel for you. I somehow hurt my tailbone, no idea how, but it hurts to sit, stand, anything. Hope it gets better soon, for both of us. It's easy to overdo it and not even realize it!

Oh wow...that does not sound fun! Maybe your doc will recommend some physical therapy to help recover?

That sounds a lot lot sciatica to me too. My doctor recommends physical therapy for that which ive done, and it does help, they help you with stretches and exercises and i got weekly massaged..cant beat that! Lol. I hope you feel better! In the meantime the only thing i can think of is tylenol and heat/ice alternated.

** a lot like..not a lot lot...this is why i hate posting from my phone lol

thanks ladies, I guess I'll have to wait till monday to talk to my pregnancy doctor, I doubt I could do much else this weekend, huh.

I was in so much pain that I could hardly walk or change positions when I got home from work that I finally took a plain dose of tylenol, something I haven't done in the pregnancy yet, even though it's supposed to be safe. *sigh*.

well... it's so bad now that I can't walk up stairs and sometimes I can't walk at all without shooting pain. I did a little reading, it seems like its sciatica? DH is getting me some crutches.

Oh nooooooo!!! That sounds just awful! You poor thing. I hope it starts feeling better soon. My sister got sciatica her last pregnancy....and it does kind of sound similar. She ended up having to go to a chiropractor.

Gah, now THAT sounds horrendous! Do you think that perhaps it may be the sciatica nerve pain that some moms get? Maybe you irritated it with the gardening .... I'm sorry That's so miserable! Nerve pain too is the worst!

I think it must be pregnancy related, I've never had pain like this before. Its awful. I'm lucky if I can walk to the bathroom. I tried the crutches and for some reason they aggravate it too, so yeah...
