Well, I finally went and got my blood taken on friday and thought nothing of it. Monday (Yesterday) morning the lab lady asked me to come back in and draw some extra blood for further testing. When I asked what all this was about she kinda beat around the bush and never fully answered the question. So when we went in I had her print up my results. Then I went into my OB's office and asked a nurse to tell me what was going on, she looked over my results and told me that I could discuss it with my doctor at my next appt (good thing that it is tomorrow) ANYWAYS you could say that I was just a little more than frustrated that nobody would tell me what is going on in my own body. Finally my dad who is a nurse looked over it for me. Turns out that my Hepititis test came back reactive. My dad said that I don't necessarily have it, but they are doing further testing to see if I do. This is so scary!!! Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I don't even know what to do, except for wait on the other lab results.

***Update***
Second lab results came back as negative! and my doc was a little taken aback that the original results had not been put on his desk. He apologized for the scare and assured us that I was perfectly fine and in fact very healthy. Thank you ladies for all of your support!

I don't know anything about that kind of test but I do know that the waiting for any kind of test results is always the hardest part. I'm sorry you're having to be put through this, I hope everything works out ok

Sorry to hear this and sorry you are having to go through this stress. I can't believe nobody would tell you what you are having to have more testing for. I would be so mad! And I'm sure any woman would be curious about what they needed more testing for. And then you were forced to have to figure it out yourself. I wish your doctor would have talked to you about it so you wouldn't have to worry so much. I really hope it turns out to be just fine. KUP.

How scary. And irritating that no one was willing to explain to you. A patient should always feel that their questions will be answered, not flat out refused! Keep us posted.

I'm sorry they beat around the bush with you! That is so frustrating. I googled... if you feel like reading, here is the article I found. The GOOD news is that it looks like the pregnancy is rarely effected in a bad way, and that baby is usually perfectly fine! Of course there are those rare exceptions, but I think you're going to be OK! Hepatitis in Pregnancy

Thank you ladies The results should be in the doctor's hands in time for my appointment, and all I feel is this impending doom with my appointment tomorrow. I'm so scared for the effect this will have on our little families future..birth will have to be very precise and specific with immediate vaccines. Dh is very good with this whole thing. He holds me while I cry (which has been a lot since yesterday afternoon) and tells me we can be sick together.
I really hope this while thing is just a big mistake.

And thank you for that link! That definately gives me some baby related relief.

Aww I am so sorry!!!! I'm glad to hear you husband is being supportive through this; this sounds like it's very stressful!! I don't know much about this at all but do you have any idea how it's contracted? I really hope it turns out to be just a close call and that you don't have it, but if you do, it sounds like your baby should be fine. I hope tomorrow comes quickly so you can get some answers! What time is your appointment?

My appointment is at 10:30 am. I feel ironically lucky because 4weeks ago I scheduled it early for no real reason and now I am so grateful. Hepatitis is contracted so many different ways my dad was telling me that it is impossible to tell where I coukd have picked it up. I worked lots of fast food which is where it can get passed around, and my step mom apparently had it and I could have picked it up from sharing her drinks and makeup. Its also contracted sexually so dh probably has it as well. So sad.

Hope everything is okay. Your doctor should have contacted you when the extra blood work was ordered and explained to you why it was ordered. For those of you who are so quick to jump all over the nurse, it's not in her scope of practice to discuss lab results with patients. She could lose her license for interpreting results. I realize that it's upsetting, but she's just doing her job.

^^ I totally get this, but she could have at least explained that she is not allowed to interpret lab results, and that the doctor needed to be the one to do it. And the doc DEFINITELY should have called prior to the extra lab tests being ordered to clue her in on what was going on, IMO.

I hate that you were kept in the dark. You should complain, you weren't treated right.

I hope you don't actively have it and that you may have in the past and are now just a carrier or something. No idea how it works but I am hopeful that you are fine. From what I understand it is relatively easy to treat.

My appt is in 2 hours and I will update.. I would be confused if it is active because I have no symptoms at all. My dad explained that the nurses could lose their job for telling me due to privacy laws, but I do agree they could have explained that to me.. Or had my doctor call me. My OB is the number one rated in my state so he has little time- but I always feel taken care of which is what I hope for today.
