Yay for healthy babies I had a LONG ultrasound with lots of measurements and everything looks great so far with both babies. They were very cooperative and showed us once again that they are a boy and a girl

The doc was a little concerned with my cervical length, though. It is shorter than they'd like to see at this point, and since there is the pressure of the twins, that might be a problem. I have another appointment next week to recheck it and then we'll go from there. Has anyone else had that issue? Any thoughts or advice? I'm not feeling any pressure down there, so I was a bit surprised, and of course now I'm stressing out about it big-time

I have my MFM appointment this Thursday and last time they began checking my cervical length as well. Now each time I go it will be checked, we are carrying around more weight fluid etc so that is where you get the pressure from. What they may do is give you a cervical cerclage to be on the safe side try not to over do yourself to bending or lifting I know it is hard with Claire but do your best. You'll be ok.

Oh, and I forgot that my doc also prescribed me some Progesterone gel (Crinone) to hopefully help.

I probably haven't been taking it as easy as I should...I have felt good, so I just keep going and doing. This is probably my sign to slow down and rest more and let DH do more around here.

Unfortunately we live about 22 hours from our family/friends where we grew up. I'm sure some would love to come help, but they all have jobs and obligations and can't just pack up and come across the country for a few months

I'm hoping for better news next week, but whatever happens I'm just glad they are checking into this stuff now so we can do whatever needs to be done to keep these babies baking as long as possible.

I understand what you mean I was just thinking there was a possibility someone close could help or higher outside help. I hope everything turns out good and your cervix starts to behave.

I'm not carrying twins, but my cervix was borderline so they are supposed to be keeping an eye on mine. But the last appt i had to re-measure the u/s tech refused because i wasn't 16wks. So i get mine re-checked on the 9th. Not sure what it should measure but mine was right on that line they don't like to see it go below... Good luck, i will keep you and babies in my prayers.

I wish I could be of some help. I have to get my cervix checked every 2 weeks until i'm 24 weeks. So far, it hasn't been a problem. I go again next Monday to check it. The reason I have to go is bc I've had a LEEP surgery in the past and I guess any kind of surgery that's been done on your cervix can cause it to shorten, whcih is why they are keeping an eye on mine. My doctor told me that if it does shorten to I think she said 2.5 or less, I would need a cerclage. So I wonder if that's what they would do for you?

I'm glad the twins are looking great! I hope everything turns out ok. KUP.

YAY for healthy babies!!!! Yikes about the cervix though! I know you want to enjoy feeling great (especially since we all had a yucko first tri), but TRY to get a little bit of rest....I'll be anxiously awaiting next week's results! HOPEFULLY it's just a little shorter and there is no change!!

I've also had a LEEP in the past, so I get my cervical length checked at my 20 week scan. It was fine last pregnancy, and my doctor seemed to think it wouldn't be a problem this time either. Keep us posted, but in the mean time try to take it easy.

Did they tell you the measurement? I've had issues with this in the past, some doctors consider 2.5 short, while others say 2cm.

My doc said I was 2.5 cm this time He did mention a cerclage, but didn't want to make any plans until my re-check next Tuesday.

2.5 isn't too bad, and its great that they are keeping an eye on it early, so that if it DOES happen to shorten more, something can be done about it in time. Good luck at your re-check. KUP!

I had a short cervix with #1, which is what put me on bed-rest (and the preterm labor), they gave me vaginal progesterone but my bed rest was strict. This time around, I am not allowed to lift anything over 25 pounds (which includes Carter) & no sex after 20 weeks. Good luck, & I hope it doesn't get any shorter! If you do end up with bed rest, remember it is better than very early babies.

Thanks, Ladies. I'm hoping things look better next week, but whatever happens I'll feel better once we have a game plan in place.

What is MFM scan?? This isn't something I have done yet.

I've had a LEEP and about 15 biopsys prior to my LEEP but my Dr never mentioned anything about it possibly being a problem?

I hope all goes well for you!

MFM is short for a maternal fetal medicine specialist that women with high risk pregnancies see.

Hugs, Melissa! Being very far from my family as well, I immediately started brainstorming ways for you to get help in the case that you do need to be on bed rest, but I decided not to write those out until you find out your measurements. TRY (easier said than done) not to stress this week... whether you need a cerclage, or bed rest, or neither, I am sure your babies are going to perfectly healthy.
