I will admit that one of my loves (ok, maybe obsessions) is watching the hummingbirds we get in our yard. We moved into our house in July of last year and after seeing my first hummingbird ever I have been hooked!
I've been on the lookout for them waiting for them to show up and this morning on the way to take one of my 20 tinkles (that's what it feels like), I saw a hummingbird at the feeder! Ahhhhh!
I am now up to 3 feeders outside of the house so that I can view them from any of our rooms.
we get quite a few out in the country where we live they seem to like the camera domes on our home that gives of an inferred beam I can see them on the screen in the evenings also they like the color red
Watching the hummingbirds is one of my parents most favorite things to do! They have a ton of feeders. I got my dad a book for his Christmas on how to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. They are so sweet!
We get quite a few! Last year I got some pretty cool pictures since they didn't seem to mind when I walked up to them!! I'll have to upload some and post later.
but there are way more than that. The hummers in my yard love salvias, agapanthus, all sorts of stuff. They tend to like bright colors (in particular fuschia and red) and they especially like trumpeted flowers.
I was highly unsuccessful attracting them to the feeders last year (no idea why), but I had them ALL OVER my flower gardens!! They went to my hanging baskets, the various flowers in the garden, etc! I'm testing my theory on the feeder and have it hanging in the back where there are no flower gardens this year, but a nice big willow tree which would give them good cover. we'll see if I get any!
