The past couple of days my nausea has been subsiding but its back again and im afraid I'm dehydrated again. I cannot keep down food or water and i have no idea what to do. I went to the hospital for fluids a couple of weeks ago. I cannot believe im going through this again.

can't the doctor give you something to help? I'd call him before it gets so bad that you have to be hospitalized again. sorry you're going through this.

When I get that way, i usually grab gatoroade instead of water. It helps some, and sometimes I can get my self back on track without needing IV's... Good luck. I'm the same way but my dr. refilled my zofran for me.

try crackers before getting out of bed. I was so sick till I was 15 weeks and now I am still sick every morning again but I am lucky that i just get sick once. I took zofran for 4 months. Is that what you are on?!

I tried the crackers. Nothing I have tried works. The medicine still takes about an hour to work. I was prescribed promethazine pills.

Tons of empathy. What meds are you on? Zofran helps me but doesn't alleviate all the nausea. I had a couple of weeks of feeling better and now I'm back to where I was a couple of months ago. I upped my zofran again and that helps.

I'm so sorry Michelle! My morning sickness has never been quite as bad as yours, but it HAS lasted this entire pregnancy. In fact, I was just huddled over the toilet last night throwing up I have NEVER had a pregnancy where it's gone all the way through and it is so miserable At this point, I'm thinking this is probably something I'm going to have to deal with for the duration. It comes in spurts. Some days I feel ok...some days I feel FABULOUS and some days I'm miserable. ((((hug))) I SURE hope you start to have more frequent "good" days
What if you woke up an hour earlier and took the pill and then laid back down to sleep. Would that help for when you woke up? Then you could just keep taking them as recommended. I wonder if you nip it in the bud before it starts if that will help? You surely can't keep getting so dehydrated

I took one of the pills yesterday around 5pm, fell asleep around 6pm and didn't wake up until about 12am. I am thinking about asking for another medication that doesn't make me so tired.

Zofran is much better as far as how it affects you. Ask for the dissolvable tablets!! You can dissolve them under your tongue so they go right into your blood stream that way if you throw up it still gets into your system!

Yeah, I would. I'm not sure why they wouldn't give you zofran (if you have insurance to cover it as I know it can be a little pricey). I'm so sorry. I was sick until my son was born and I'm expecting things to be similar now.

They gave me zofran while I was at the hospital, they put it in my IV but the doctor told me that the promethazine was more effective since I had such a severe case of hyperemesis. I may just cut the pill to make it smaller so I don't get as tired but the nausea goes away.

Zofran is usually the thing that is most effective for hyperemesis. You can also get something called a zofran pump that is a continual supply of zofran into your system. This is my second time with hyperemesis and all of the people I've seen have said that Zofran is the gold standard treatment. Did it seem to work for you in hospital? I tried other things in conjunction with zofran (including promethazine, which works in a different way) and none of the other drugs made a difference. Sending lots of hugs. I know the misery of HG..

I'm sorry your not able to keep anything down.
I too have HG and the last two days have been torture. Zofran is very helpful.
Hope you find some relief soon!

I am going to ask for the Zofran the next time I go and I will update all of you ladies on how it is making me feel. I honestly do not think anything at this point is going to work. My sister had morning sickness for 7 months and I think thats the road that I will be going down as well.
