So at my last appt about 3 weeks ago he was measuring pretty big, that's when they told me that he was measuring in the 90th percentile, they're weren't to concerned then. So this appt they took my blood pressure, it was "perfect" whatever that means I have no idea about that stuff, any who, then the mid wife measured my uterus, i told her as she was getting started that I have been measuring big since my 12 week appt, she measured, then measured again then looked at my dumbfounded and said I'm measuring at 29 weeks! I'm 24w5d. So weird. so I was measuring 2 weeks (ish) ahead, now over 4!! ***? So weird. She ordered another ultrasound to see what's going on with him. So once again I was told I have a "giant" baby......

I was told that once with my first.. turns out it was an error in them measuring! It was a different doctor than I normally had, and she was over 3cm off... freaked out, ordered an unnecessary ultrasound (which I cancelled and never went to) and went on about needing to induce me around 36 weeks (which I told her would never happen). Crazy!!

These babies can really send us for a loop sometimes!! Big is good though, it's healthy! I'm measuring 2 weeks "ahead" with this one, I'm sure it will still be between 7-8lbs. Uterus measurement isn't an accurate measurement of baby all the time!

These are pretty hippie mid wives, they're still not even changing my due date, and they NEVER induce unless medically necessary. I was measuring big at all my ultra sounds, then at the last appt they measured my uterus and told me he was really big, this appt she measured me over and over again because she didn't believe it. They wanted to give me an ultra sound at my 28 week anyway to double check my placenta, it was a little low last time. We'll see. It's in 3 weeks. I figured if they were overly concerned they would have given me an ultrasound right then.

Well, on the plus side we're all in the time frame of the most weight gain so that might attribute for some of the growth! Either way, growth is a good sign even if it does seem a bit shocking, baby is probably just going through a spurt!

LOL I hope so, but the dr's and mid wives have told me "maybe he's going through a spurt" every appt since 12 weeks hahahha either way I am for sure happy that he is big and healthy VS. the opposite

...well I guess you'd better just pray that he has a small head!!!! THAT matters far more than the actual weight of the baby when it comes to getting him evicted! Jamison was in the 78th percentile at our 19 week u/s, which is bigger than what Josiah was, but I would still be surprised if I grew a baby bigger than 8lbs. Josiah was 7lbs 5oz when he was born at 40W3D. Do the babies run big in either of your families?

Jolly Green Giant.... That is SO cute!
That's pretty amazing that they are saying you're measuring THAT far ahead! Wow. Yeah, have you checked with DH's family to see if big babies are common? I'm anxious to hear what the u/s has to say in 3 weeks!

All my babies measure about a week ahead. My 1st was 9lbs. 1oz and second was 9lbs. I expect at least a 9lb baby to say the least lol.

Don't worry mama, I had a giant 10 lb 9 ounce baby and I am tiny when not pregnant. Did it sans drugs without a tear or even a scrape. Giant babies do less harm than teeny babies positioned badly. Your body is amazing and won't grow a baby it can't deliver. Have faith and don't let them scare you!
