I spent the entire day in L&D. I know we all second guess ourselves when we get pains, baby isn't moving enough, or we just feel something is wrong. We don't want to call the doctor because we don't want to look like we are overreacting or being paranoid. Today I have been having a "burning" sensation in my abdomen with sharp pains in between. I wasnt going to call because of the reasons above. Well I called. Doctor sent me to L&D. The baby is fine and I am fine. Turns out they think what I have is an umbilical hernia and I am now on bed rest. I just wanted to say please if any of you feel something may be wrong..just call. We are allowed to be worried..we know when something just isn't right. Oh I got an U/S...baby is measuring a week ahead and weighs 2 lbs 11oz!
UPDATE**
I had my follow up with the doctor. I have to stay on bed rest until I hit 34 weeks! And the reason is for my BH Contractions. Wait what?!??! Because of BH?? To my doctor a contraction is a contraction. I knew she was a strict doctor but now I believe it. I appreciate her wanting to keep her patients and babies safe and healthy. This is going to be hard...I have to have my mom come take care of me and the house. I'm so set in my ways , this is why it's going to be so hard! This is more like HOUSE ARREST!
I'm so glad you and baby are okay. I totally agree with you... if something doesn't seem right, CALL YOUR DOCTOR ladies! Your instincts are powerful, and it is always better safe than sorry.

I'm so glad you posted this! I'm sorry about the hernia, are you on bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy? Sometimes I think we worry too much about being "that" patient and I keep thinking back to what Angelina said when she was in the hospital with her babies: "YOU have to be your best advocate because if you don't, no one else will"....and that goes for your babies too! We "know" when something is wrong...we just do! Our instincts are the best, and if we are WRONG.....so what?!? The hospitals and doctors would not be in business without us! If we are wrong...that's the BEST case scenario....right? I go through this in my head now every time Ella isn't moving like she should. I don't want to bother the doctors or the hospitals....yet if something horrible happened and I lost her, I KNOW I would think back to the moments that I "thought" about going in. I can't do that to myself! We almost headed off to L&D last night because she's still having heart decels, but she started moving around a good bit, so we didn't. Anyway....I'm SO sorry that you have this hernia, but SO glad you went in and got it checked out.....what did they say happens with that?
I agree...we have to protect our babies in the tummy and out! Well I have to follow up with my doctor tomorrow as my doctor was not on call at the hospital. I will find out about the bed rest then. I think what they don't want happening in strangulation of the bowel..or something like that. I know for sure no more heavy lifting and possibly no more yoga for me. Your little sweet girl is really kepping you on your toes!! Did they advise you to lay on your side?? I was watching A Baby Story the other day and the baby's heart rate would drop then go up. The doctor said they thought she was laying on the cord because when they had the mother alternate laying on eah side the heart rate would go up. We don't have much longer to go then all these worries will be gone!

Wow that's tough. I'm surprised she put you on BR just because of the BHs. Many of us have them; I just had a pretty strong one a few minutes ago actually. Did she check to see if you were dilating at all? I'm so glad your mom is coming to help you out!! Take it easy, mama.

**Thank you SO much Quantum_Leap for this perfect siggy!**
Bed rest seems a bit extreme and I agree with the other ladies///I have also been getting BH...several a day. Some are quite intense and others are very mild.

My cervix closed nice and tight. The main reason for the bed rest is because with my last pregnancy my water broke and I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks...so she is really taking the BH seriously. I forgot to mention that in my update post! I was not expecting for BH to be so serious but I guess in my case they would be. Yes..thank goodness for my mom and my kids are teenagers so they are pretty good about helping out and making snacks etc
Given your history, I can understand why she is being cautious. But BOO for bedrest! I hope the next several weeks go quickly for you! I'm glad your mom is going to be able to help out.
