We are all at or very close to the 30 week mark so lets talk about hospital bags. I dont really know what to bring and need ideas. With my first, he was very unexpected due to being born at just shy of 30 weeks.
So what will you have in your bag and for the baby??
I want my NOOK with some books on it for AFTER the birth. I remember being bored after my last child when my kids/DH weren't with me, baby was sleeping and I couldn't sleep! LOL!
Definately my own Lansinoh, because the hospital charges $80 for a sample tube and I always seem to need it right away. My own PP pads- I hate the ones in the hospital. Nursing bra, but one of the comfy no underwire ones. My own PJ's and maybe a lightweight robe. Snacks. My hospital encourages moms to bring their own so we can snack on what we want and like. My own pillow.
I like to move during labor but don't like the whole tennis ball rubbing on your back thing like some birthing sites recommend, so I won't be bringing that kind of stuff. And I HATE listening to music while I'm laboring, so no CD's for me.
I don't know. I probably won't pack until I'm actually in labor like I did with my last two!
My laptop for down time. A change of clothes for myself and hubby, a coming home outfit for Dillon, some snacks for hubby to have on hand since the vending machines tend to cost a small fortune and have nothing really good in them LOL, my little bathroom pack that has my necessities in it, and probably some lasinoh cream since it will be my first attempt at BFing and I don't know if I will need it or not.
I'm keeping it pretty light since we live 5 minutes from the hospital. Anything I need hubby can run home and grab.

I'm still kind of unsure of what all I'll really need, aside from a change of clothes.. We are going to a birth center and they are all about releasing you quickly, if everything is well, so I may not even stay over night. I'm not sure... But I was planning on bringing obviously a change of clothes and the lansinoh is a great idea!! I'll have to add that to our list. Snacks are definitely a must and I imagine I will bring the hypnobabies CD; I think there is one for labor.

Change of clothes, an outfit to wear home, bathrobe and slippers, shampoo, facesoap etc. Nursing pads, baby coming home outfit and Lanolin. Oh and camera, laptop and cell phone. I think that is about all!
* warm socks...those rooms are always freezing cold
* Chapstick
* nursing tanks and yoga pants
* shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush/paste, deodorant, lotion, hairbrush, razor, contact stuff
* phone charger/iPhone
* camera/extra batteries
* my own underwear/pads
* breast pads
Something to consider...it is best to take/use unscented soaps and lotions when baby is born so he/she/they can get used to your scent...especially if you are BFing.
For babies:
Couple of outfits/hats
Burp cloths
Swaddling blankets
Our hospital provides diapers, wipes, blankets, nose sucker, and a few other basics.

Great reminder! With my last I brought smelly lotion and then didn't use it because I didn't want the scent on me, but my skin was so itchy and dry!
Also, I second the nursing pads. With my first my milk didn't come in until I was home, but with my last 3 it was in before I left the hospital!!!
I haven't packed mine yet... 26 weeks on Saturday. Here are some of the things that will go in mine:
nursing tanks
cotton nightgowns
yoga pants
scented shower gel
hand mirror
makeup bag
camera
warm blanket for baby
2-3 newborn outfits
laptop
cell phone
And I always bring my own pillow

Thank you Jaidynsmum for my perfect siggy!
i had this all planned out for my daughter but when i got to hospital i realized i still needed stuff
so this time toiletries such as toothbrush, hairties, brush, deoderant, makeup, a spaghetti strap tank top, super easy to pull the straps down to nurse! comfy pants like the tie pj pants, socks, i dont wear or use a robe so wont be bringing that, slip on shoes as my feet swelled from the epidural so maybe some slip on slippers
for him i have this really cute comfy receiving blanket, two sleepers, two outfits and the carseat i still need to pack my daughters bag for when we leave that night/day to drop her off at my sisters....i have my hospital badge so we get discounts in the cafeteria and of course all meals are free to the moms, so mike will use my badge for snacks, cell phone AND cell phone charger!!
I won't get my stuff together until I go into labour. I packed a bunch of unnecessary stuff with my first and it felt really silly after the fact knowing that most of the stuff was not needed or even thought of during labour. This time i'm going with what I'll actually need, which should keep me from packing the whole house and all the toiletries in the world, LOL.
So:
- Comfy coming-home clothes for me and baby. I'm really considering Depends since those seem much more comfortable than pads and undies, especially the mesh hospital underwear.
- Diapers and wipes, depending on how many the hospital provides.
- Bottled water and powerade
- Happy Planet green smoothie for after birth to give me a vitamin and mineral boost. *did this with my first, it was a godsend*
- Book
- facewash/toothbrush/toothpaste
- camera
My pump with all the necessities that go along with it and nursing including breast pads
A comfy nursing bra (no underwire)
My iPad w/charger
Phone charger
My Camera
Chapstick because my lips get chapped during labor from all the heavy breathing
Razor/Shaving Cream
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Slippers with grips
Comfy t-shirts
My own pillow and blanket
Definitely my own feminine pads
A couple girl outfits and a couple boy outfits
Baby Blankets (one girly and one boy or neutral)
Ok, I feel kinda dumb for asking this... But do we need the liners because we will be bleeding still? Or leaking fluids in general? Or is it because our bladder muscles will be traumatized and not functioning?! lol. And how long should I expect to have to wear pads after delivery??
Zoe, what's that happy planet green smoothie? Sounds like something I should get!

I can only speak about c-sections from personal experience...my bleeding was almost done by the time I left the hospital (5 days) but I know some women bleed longer. I wore what the hospital gave me until I was able to get up and take a shower, and then I put on my own underwear and pads.
After a vaginal birth, you will be bleeding...and it is quite possible that you will pee yourself as well So much to look forward to!!

I've had a CSection and a VBAC. Both times I bled for at least 6 weeks. So for me it didn't matter which way the baby came out. With my VBAC though, peeing was added on top of the bleeding. It was great.....
Go home clothes for baby-just cozy pajamas, a onesie, and socks
Baby blanket
Toothbrush/toothpaste
Make-up
Brush/pony tail holder and other toiletries (shower gel etc.)
Cozy clothes for me to go home in
Breast pads
Pillow
Computer/charger
Cell/charger
Camera/charger
Tube top style nighty
Undies and pads
Socks and my slippers
I really don't know and i'm over whelmed as it's so close and I don't have much ofg anything ready. My parents will be here so if I do need anything after birth they'll get it for me and the husband anyway. I know I'll just do a pair of clothes and the baby's take home outfit. not sure what else lol
