What do you guys think of this? I am getting contractions along with a constant back ache and constant rock hard belly, and stumbled across this site - Checking dilation without a vaginal exam « Woman to Woman Childbirth Education and according to this, I would be about 5 cm dilated because i have about 2 1/2 fingers in between...... any thoughts? How does yours measure?

Wow, that's interesting! I'll report back after my next big contraction! I would say if your contractions are constant and you have a backache, that you should definitely consider the possibility of a trip to L&D sometime soon. Hope you have your bag packed!

That is just it, they are not consistant, but i do have all our bags packed and in the car... And i am considering going to L&D around 3:30-4:00 because i don't have anyone to get the kids off the bus... Unless my water breaks or the contractions become consistant... then i will dismiss them on the way to the hospital....

I know with Josiah, I was surprised how many contractions showed up on the monitor that I didn't even feel. They were far more consistent than I realized when I actually got admitted. You've got enough symptoms and they've been dragging on long enough, that I would guess you're in early labor. A trip later this afternoon sounds like a good plan.

Wow, that is really interesting! I'll definitely have to try this out next time I have a big contraction and I am where I can lay down. That would be so much nicer if you could check this way and not have to do the vag exam....OUCH!

And yes, I agree with Sarah, I think a trip to L&D should be in your near future! Good luck!

hmm, i'm not sure i buy it. it seems like something similar to measuring and how large baby is. everyone is different, i've always measured smaller and have huge babies. what do i know though.

I'm kind of confused by it. So like the more dilated you are, shouldn't the uterus be lower? What does fundal height have to do with dilation and couldn't it vary from person to person? That was a really interesting article on child bed fever though.... I enjoyed the read! It's an interesting theory too in dilation!

Sounds fishy, but I'm curious enough to try it! Next crampy/contracty spell I get, I'll lay down and try this!

That means I'm 6cm which I'm not. I'm trying to get to 3 as we speak. I'm 2.5
