I'm almost 39 weeks, which is amazing given all the weeks/months of preterm labour! I am super, super happy about it and would love this baby to make it as close to his due date as possible (I just read a really interesting article on brain and nervous system development and the difference between a 37 weeker and a 40 weeker). Anyway, the prodromal labour has increased and intensified and today I had loose stools (usually very constipated) and I'm now having more consistent contractions. No bloody show, or anything, but I'm wondering if the time is looming...> I'm a STM but my DS was induced at 38 weeks and 5 days because of a kidney problem).

Yet I really want a few more days/week! Anyone else wanting baby to stay put for a while longer?

Finally, I was induced with Cervadil overnight and at 10am my waters were broken and, without Pitocin, I had my DS at 4:15pm.. so a very quick active labour without the need for Pitocin. My midwife expects me to have an even faster labour but given how long i've been in early labour I just don't know when I should be calling. We live 45 minutes away from the hospital and our nanny will need to get here in the middle of the night (another 45 mns drive to our house).

Starting to feel anxious and disorganized!

Oh wow. Could you check yourself carefully to get a sense of if you are dilated? I might go that route and if your cervix feels open, give a call.

I would love for Ruby to come anytime except that I need a few weeks to get my iron up.

Good luck!!! Sending you lots of good thoughts! It definitely sounds like there is something going on for you, I would call the midwife just to get advice. I am in the "keeping my fingers crossed my little one stays baking so mama can get things ready" camp lol

Yikes! That would make me nervous too, being that far from the hospital. A friend of mine was in a similar situation, and she actually opted to stay somewhere closer to the hospital once she knew she was getting really close.

Thanks you guys. I did check myself and I did feel fairly dilated. I lay down and decided to see if they would become more intense and I was able to sleep through them. This morning they have petered out. I have a scan in an hour and I'll then call my midwife.

WIll update when I get home!

Thanks, Nina! It's been a heck of a 9 weeks! Every time I go to the ultrasound place (which is also a high risk fetal maternal center), everyone comments that I am still here... and I am best friends with some of the techs

More loose stools earlier and some contractions and lower backache. The baby looked great on the scan but I do have high levels of fluid - though they're scraping in as 'normal'. It's incredibly uncomfortable with the fluid, though.

I don't even know whether I should bother my midwives at this point as there is nothing regular about these contractions (unlike last night when they were coming every 3-5 mins). I'm going to walk the dogs to see if anything happens. I have so much to do but feel really lackluster. Hopefully a walk will either lift my energy levels or it'll help determine what's going on. My midwife a couple of weeks ago predicted that today would be the date... so who knows

A quick update:

Ended up seeing my midwife this late afternoon after it seemed as though I might have had a leak. Because I'm strep B positive they wanted me to come in to be checked. Test was a bit ambiguous as the Ph test was positive but the ferning test was negative. Since I have an appointment tomorrow they let me go home but I'm to call if I have any gushes. Mind you my fluid is so high that they said they'd expect a big 'ol gush! I am going to be carrying towels with me everywhere!

I asked my midwife to check my cervix, though, given all the contractions, and I'm at a whopping 3cm externally and 2cm internally. So these contractions aren't all that productive, though I also know dilation means very little.

A bit fed up, honestly, but still hoping we have more time.

Oh how confusing. The end is in sight, it has to be. Hang in there!
