Doesn't a sweet smell usually mean amniotic fluid? When ever I pull my pants down to go to the bathroom, I smell a strong sweet smell, without even smelling my underwear, but I'm not that wet, damp at most. And even when I wipe, I can smell it without even bringing it to my nose. (sorry if tmi) - and I was napping and woke up with cramps and have had bad diareha since..... Even though I'm just damp could this still be my fluid? And would it be that stong of an odor?

It could be. Is it a real hassle to go in? They'll just do one of those litmus paper test things to see if that's what it is.

Well its about a 45 min drive and DH isn't home yet so I would have to drag all 3 kids in with me. Maybe i will call when DH gets home and see what they say. I kind of hate going in when I have diareha though...

If it is a leak, it's not super urgent that you go right this moment....but it's probably not a bad idea to go get checked once DH gets home.

Lay down on your side without getting up for an hour. Once it's been an hour: Stand up, cough REALLY hard, and if you feel any sort of trickle that means your water has broken. (Or at least torn a bit) An hour gives it enough time for the fluid to collect in your vagina to give you a good trickle. So even if it's a small tear, you should still get that result.

If THAT happens I would definitely go in!!!!

You had your water checked in L&D on Friday right? But they didn't do an exam did they? I never had my water break so I don't know about the smell, but I think some have described it that way. Honestly, I think I'd go back and make that nurse have someone check you this time to see if you are progressing. If you do have a slow leak, you want to keep tabs on that.

Yes Amber I did go in last friday when I had my NST and they did that paper test and didn't check me. I still honestly think my water did break that day and the baby's head is preventing it from coming out, the pressure down low is so bad, i don't remember it being anywhere near this bad with the others.

I called them and they told me it could wait until my appointment on Friday. I have my NST, a bpp u/s and then an appt with the dr. so they said they would look into it at my appointment and check fluid levels during the u/s. And if it gets worse between now and then to call back and they will send me to L&D....
