So for those of you who read my post about Nora being diagnosed with hip dysplasia a couple weeks ago, I have an update...

We went to the orthopedic specialist yesterday and he determined that she does in fact have to wear a harness for at least 2 months. Hopefully that will be all the treatment needed, though there is always a possibility that further intervention might be necessary.

We are so thankful to have a happy and healthy baby girl, and are counting our blessings that we aren't facing something much more serious. I'll admit to some tears when we were told she needed to be in it, and some more tears when they put it on her. But I'm getting used to it...it's definitely harder on me than it is on her. She could care less . The more I look at it, the more I realize how adorable she is in it, it looks like little baby suspenders .

Here's a pic of the harness:

Aww it does look like baby suspenders. I'm glad you are trying to stay positiv about it!! Babies can sense our emotions and it will help her if you can smile at it!
I hope it helps her quickly!! If you don't mind me asking, how did the suspicion of her having hip dysp. first come up?

She does look adorable in it. I, also, like the positive outlook. Whenever I get upset about something, I tell myself there are a lot worse things out there.

It's a routine part of pediatric checkups... If you have noticed the pedi taking Emmy's legs and rotating them around, that's what they are looking for. Nora's pedi picked it up at her first checkup after birth, she was apparently able to dislocate her leg from her hip. It doesn't dislocate any more, which is great, but it still isn't quite in the socket the right way.

It's also completely painless at this point, by the way.

Thank goodness it's routine to check for it, otherwise we would have no idea and she would have been in for some much more serious issues down the road.

Aww. These months will go by quickly and she'll be done with the harness before you know it. Babies are so adaptable. I remember worrying about how Riley would adjust to the helmet, but he hardly even noticed.

She's so adorable! I'm so glad the ped discovered that.

I want to share your story with my cousin, if that's okay. She doesn't bring her new baby to the doctor EVER (she doesn't bring any of her kids). I want to show her that sometimes there are problems that we mommies don't know about that a doctor can/will discover.

Please share! I understand being leary of doctors, there are probably so many unnecessary medical procedures done every day, but why risk missing something important??

Interesting, thanks for explaining that. Also, it's great to hear that it's painless. I'm sure that makes it a bit easier, knowing she isn't hurting.
