I've been doing lots of hip dysplasia research lately and thought I'd pass some knowledge on to hopefully help prevent other babies from developing the condition. Nora's hip dysplasia was present at birth, but it can apparently develop later on due to the soft and still-developing joints, especially if swaddled or worn incorrectly in a carrier.

Swaddling:
The only parts of the body that should be tightly swaddled are the torso/arms. Hips and legs should never be swaddled straight, but should have room to bend and move freely.

Baby Wearing:
Legs should never be pushed together too tightly or straightened out, and the whole thigh should be supported. Seated positions are much healthier than laying in a sling. This link has good illustrations:

Another great article about baby carriers and overall physical health:

I hope you find this info helpful!

For grins, heres another pic of Nora in her harness as her hips heal away And, yes, she's wearing baby legwarmers since she cant wear pants

I love them, too! They were a gift, little did my friend know she would actually be NEEDING leg warmers! I think she got them from an independent vendor somewhere...

But I also bought some from Target today, not as cute though.

What an awesome gift!!
I ordered some "baby legs" when they were on baby steals but they are still too big. I got some with helicopters on them since Bryan is hugely into Rc helis.
Edited to add a pic:
