How long did your doctor tell you to wait before getting pregnant again? Mine just told me 6 months but I thought I heard you should wait a year after a c-section.

After Claire I was told that it was "ideal" to wait so that there was at least 18 months between deliveries....not just because of the c-section, but also so your body can replenish its mineral/nutrient stores after pregnancy/BFing.

It also depends on your overall health and the condition of your uterus (how it looked when she got to see it, what type of incision she did, etc.)

Mine said 18 months between deliveries. my c-section girls are 14 months apart though. It was a difficult surgery this time, but it was also my third :/

Sounds like most doctors are saying 18 months between deliveries, so 9 months before getting pregnant again? I wasn't planning to TTC any time before August anyways and most likely not until Sean is a year old, but thanks! Helps me feel better in case we have an "Oops!"

...can I say that I don't remember? I really dont think she gave us a time frame. I am on the depo shot anyway, so I cannot have any more until we stop taking it.

The first time my doc didn't say anything and I ended up pregnant 3 months post section. After that, my other doc said to wait at least a year before even thinking about it.

I think the standard is 8-12 months so your body can heal.

Hi. Im popping in from september 12 playroom. My dr said 6 months and said most doctors will say a year to be safe and cover their butts basically but he said as long as the section went smoothly and your recovering fine and your 6 weekcheckup theres usually no reason to wait longer. He said hea had many successful ones even earlier than 6 months but he doesnt reccomend thy because its so hard on your body.

Mine didn't tell me to wait any certain amount of time and he knows we are not using birth control. We aren't trying but we aren't really preventing either. I am not worried about it since I have had 3 c/s as it is.
