We went to the neurologist yesterday because Quin has a little " shark fin" on the back of his head. Turns out He has Sagittal Synostosis and will need a craniectomy . That is where they will cut open his scalp and remove a little slice of the scull to make room for his brain to grow.

It's a little scary. And I'm sad about it. I'm worried about him it seems like such a big surgery for such a little baby.

We have to schedule it for January. I was saposed to start back work in January, but it looks like I'll be off until Feb now, which I like I'm just as that its because of surgery.

That must be so so scary for you, I can't even imagine what you must be feeling.

For what it's worth, a friend of mine's little boy had the same thing. It was a tough road with various doctors and specialists, but he is a happy, healthy, loving, and super-smart 9 year old now. Anyone meeting him today would have no idea what he went through as a baby.

Keep us posted, sending lots of thought and prayers your way.

How scary. I will be thinking if both of you. My first had to have an MRI at 6 months and they put her to sleep. I remember got terrified I was just having her put to sleep. I can't even imagine how scary it would be having them go through surgery. hugs.

How was his recovery? How long did it take? I've read it can cause sleep issues and night terrors and he's such a good sleeper now, it would break my heart if he had night terrors first surgery then constant nightmares? What a raw deal for baby!

I didn't know her at the time, so I've only ever met her son in recent years. I wish I could give you more specific info about his recovery. I'm sure you can find support groups, both in person and online, and there you'd find lots of personal stories along with support from the only other people who can truly understand what you're going through.
