When do babies typically start being able to hold the pacifiers in themselves? I feel like, if anything, Sean is getting worse at it.

George has been able to do it for a long time with the Soothie. Abigail finally decided to love the Nuk pacis a couple of weeks ago and can keep it in all night

Claire wouldn't take a paci until 6 mos...every kid is different. Does Sean chew on his fingers or suck his thumb?

Oh my gosh, I literally thought Emmy is the only one here that can't hold hers in! Lol. I see all these pics of everyone's babies sleeping with a paci in and she is horrible at it. Lol. She can not keep it in by herself!! So you are not alone with this! I have a feeling either they can do it or they can't. And Emmy obviously can't. Haha.

Meghan is terrible at it! I make it a point not to put her down with one b/c as soon as it falls out she wakes up!

Glad he's not the only one!

He can't get his thumb yet. He makes fists in the shape of the sign language letter T and sucks on his fist. He likes his pacifiers and I'd rather the binkies than his hands or finger it's just frustrating to have to keep putting it back in!

Jayden can keep his in until he decides he doesnt want it anymore and he either spits it out or pulls it out of his mouth. If it starts to fall out and he still wants it he usually will push it in his mouth, its pretty neat watching him use his hands like that.

Jett can sometimes. He uses the wub a nubs the ones with stuffed animals attached. This help and hurts him. He can hold it in fine but sometimes plays with the stuffy and accidentally pulls it out. He doesn't go to bed with a paci but sometimes naps with one. It falls out as soon as he's asleep.

Jill, Sean is the same with his wubbies! I use a regular Soothie at night, though.

Just wait until he takes it out and puts it in your mouth...you'll melt

I swear by the Nuk pacifier, Remy has used it ever since the hospital and he can suck on that thing for ages! Maybe trying another type would help? I do think it depends on the baby though, too.

Madilyn can hang on to it sometimes. It takes her a bit though to actually get a good hold of it & keep it in. As soon as she falls asleep though it falls right back out. She's not a big paci or thumb/finger person.

Ryan never took a paci or his thumb---thank goodness!! He played with them around 1 year and would give them to his stuffed animals and then he bit the end off of one shortly after that and all his pacis went to the trash.

Sean isn't a big binkie baby and he'll only really take it to settle himself and to fall asleep. I'm fine with that. I just also would prefer the binkie to him sucking his thumb since you can take away a binkie but not a thumb!

She refuses to take any sort of binky. She did for a few weeks and now she gags and cries if I try. I've tried just about every type out there too.
