I think its your son having surgery, right? Elias had his surgery today, it was really quick. They took him to the OR at 12:25, and he was in recovery by 12:45, we were in there about 10 minutes later. Everything was really simple and easy, though apparently a more extensive repair than anticipated was needed, as he is on restricted activity for 30 days instead of the typical 2 Weeks. The surgeon said his testicle looked fine, and we follow up in 2-4 Weeks. Elias came out of the anesthetic kicking and screaming, and they ended up giving him some morphine to calm him down. We came home with a prescription for loritab in liquid suspension, and he's napping now. He has an incision in his scrotum and one in his groin, steristrips holding the groin one together, medical Superglue holding the scrotum one together.

Yes, Josiah goes in on Feb. 6th. I'm so glad Elias did well! We were told to expect to be at the hospital a total of 3 hours, that the procedure would be 30 minutes. I'm NOT looking forward to it! That is interesting that "typical" limited activity time is 2 weeks, because our surgeon told us that since we are going in on a Wed. , we should keep him home from school Th/F, and then he could go back to preschool the following week. Hmmmm.... guess we'll see. My pre-op phone appt. where they tell us more of the specifics is next week.

I would definitely double check on that, though before surgery, group care activities were supposed to not be for 3 or so days, and sports and active stuff like that (and ride on toys) was 2 Weeks. After surgery we were told 7-10 days before going back to any group care place (which is fine, because in aSAHM,, and he doesn't go to daycare), and 30 before he could participate in sports of any sort (in his case, gymnastics). The nurse said that sometimes when the surgeon gets in there it ends up being a little more extensive and therefore requires more healing time, so he changes those numbers.
Oh my. This is going to be a REALLY long month!! I can't even begin to count the number of times I had to tell him not to run, jump, or climb things today!!! I really don't want to do it a second time, so I hope the surgeon stitched really REALLY well, because my 2yo sure isn't slowing down. Funny thing is, of my two older children he is the lower energy one. It's becoming tempting to give him the loritab just so it will knock him out, seeing as he sure isn't in much pain, lol. He's already peeled the outer steristrip off his incision. It was across the three vertical ones. If he peels another we have to go to the doctor to get new ones!! Ahhhhhhh!! I feel like a broken record. "leave your belly alone" "stop running" "don't jump!" "get down!" LOL.
I hope he doesn't, Jill! It can take until a year for them to stay put where they belong, or like in Elias' case, they can retract as the child gets older as well. I never knew testicles were so complicated before I had a boy, lol.
