How are the babies doing with sitting up?

On Sunday Sean started sitting unsupported for a few seconds and now can sometimes do up to a minute!

Madalyn sits really well propped against a pillow, but she can't do it completely unsupported yet ... She tips over.

I made this collage the other day. He is sitting unsupported a lot and for over a minute each time.

For about .2 seconds lol he is getting better. He doesn't need a whole lot of support.

Korleigh started like a day or two after she turned five months old.

We're working on it. She loves sitting in the Bumbo seat, and she can sit as long as she's supported. She ends up leaning too far forward though and sometimes rolling down like a football!

I have not been working on sitting unsupported yet. I don't feel Jonah's ready for sitting yet. He has been using his Bumbo this week though. I feel that four months is rather young to have them sitting. When he can get into a sitting position on his own then I an say he is able to sit unsupported.

Not yet, but she's showing interest. She does great in the Bumbo and propped up in the Boppy though.

Not yet here, as well. She absolutely loves sitting up though and we will sit her on the couch with us, supported by pillows. But I agree with Erin, she's a little young yet.

Not unsupported yet but he tries! In the car seat and the rock n play he leans forward and sometimes grabs his pants for leverage, trying to sit up.

Is there harm in them sitting up now?

I wouldn't say I'm working on it with him, more just had been curious since he required such little support. I wasn't expecting it for at least another month or two but if he can do it, and he is soooo proud of himself, I figure I'll let him try.

Michelle, I love the collage! So cute!

I don't know if there's harm..never researched that one. I have just never thought about putting any of my babies in an unsupported sitting position until they could get into that position themselves

Oh, gotcha. For us, I just was holding him in a sitting position and realized I wasn't really doing much to hold him up besides just balancing him so I let go and saw what happened. Same with standing. I discovered he can stand if he holds onto something. I just let curiosity get the best of me!

I know my kids are a little older than most in here, but they are only 4.5 months adjusted. George's physical therapist has been having me sit him up in front of me (his back to my front) so he has some support. Then we hold toys out in front of him to play with so he can practice his balance...he reaches with both hands, passes then from hand to hand, etc. and is working to do all of that without tipping over. So I don't think there is any harm in having them sit at this age.
