I think I may have thrush in my left breast. Is there anything I can do to treat it naturally without going to the dr?

Yes! Gentian Violet is amazing! We've had thrush here twice. The first time I couldn't get the Gentian Violet fast enough since it was Xmas time and we used prescription meds. The second time I had Gentian Violet on hand just in case. What a difference! The Gentian Violet worked so much faster and the purple mouth look on the baby is cute! I think most pharmacies have to special order it for you. I ordered mine on Amazon. I used disposable nursing pads to protect my clothing.

Ok so it has to be ordered? I looked in his mouth for sign of thrush but don't see any signs on him but when I nurse him, it hurts and I feel a itchy burning sensation on my nipple. I also noticed I have one white dot on my nipple. I looked it up and it says those are symptoms.

Good luck! I didn't have any gentian violet here when I got it, so I had to use meds. I still think it's hanging on a bit
I started feeling it the end of last week and I told my hubby it feels like he's got a mouth full of teeth or razors when he nurses. I felt fine over the weekend and now I'm feeling it again.

i bought mine at a local apocathery, i think you could probably call around and find some at a local store. if not, your pharmacy should be able to order it for you.

if you have thrush, chances are your baby does too. its a good idea to treat both. you can treat him very easily with the gentian violet too. dip a qtip in the bottle and then stick it in his mouth and let him suck, or just swab it around his cheeks. or paint it on your nipple and then let him nurse immediately.

good luck, i hope you feel better soon.

actually GSE (grapefruit seed extract) treats thrush so much faster and no messy mouth/clothes/nipples.

1 drop GSE in 5 drops water. Gone within 48hrs if applied to both nipples 3 times a day (a few mins before feeds). Also, you should drink 15drops in 1cup of water at those same 3 times during the day. Slowly decrease amounts over 5days.

It will taste nasty so drink as fast as possible.

*lurking from Dec 12 PR*

If you want something that isn't messy like GV, try apple cider vinegar. Put a little on the nipples after feeding, let it dry, then put on some Lanolin. It did the trick for me, and I had it really bad a few weeks ago.

Just warned to pipe in, I don't have thrush but a milk blister on my nipple. The symptoms are very similar: a white dot on my nipple & painful nursing. It's usually caused by a clogged milk duct. The last time I had it, it took at least 3 weeks to resolve because the blister keeps opening when she nurses. I dread each time that side comes up for her to nurse because it's so painful. Anyway, just thought you might want to look into that as a possibility as well.

I ordered a couple of bottles from CVS when I had it. It took 2 days to get it so I ended up with a prescription faster, but I keep it on hand just in case I might need it again. It is very painful! Hope you can get some relief soon!

When it first happened last week I thought it was a clogged duct because the side of my breast was hard and painful too. This time it's not, maybe I should just go to the dr lol.

That's exactly how my milk blister started almost two weeks ago. It'll take another week before it starts feeling better. But I think it's a great idea to see the doctor just in case KUP please!
