Up until now I've nursed Eve to sleep. It's not the nursing to sleep that's a problem, it's that she now thinks she needs to nurse in her sleep. This is a big problem for naps. I need her to nap, but I can't be upstairs for hours on end nursing her while she sleeps. I have a two year old. She adamantly refuses a pacifier. I need to break the habit of nursing her to sleep and hopefully that will solve her needing a boob to sleep thing. The plan is to try and rock/snuggle/bounce her to sleep from now on and then lay her in the crib. This morning has been a major, major battle. Anyone been through this before? Any advice? I feel awful about it, and have already been crying this morning. I can't let her cry (which doesn't work for her anyway), but I also can't let my two year old have run of the house while I try to get her to nap.
Could you pump and have your husband give her a bottle before bed?
She also won't take a bottle. She is really attached to my boobs.
I got her down for nap a few minutes ago. Fed her downstairs and then bounced/rocked her up in the bedroom before laying her down. Took two tries before she didn't scream. She tried to burrow down in my chest and nurse, but did go to sleep when she realized I wasn't going to nurse her.
