I noticed that the insides of Jamison's cheeks have a white film on them. His tongue does not. Is this thrush, or normal for an EBF'd baby? He also has a small red sore next to his mouth. I assumed it was from all of the drooling he's been doing lately, but now I'm second guessing myself. Thoughts?

I've never dealt with thrush, but the sore near his mouth would make me think maybe that's what he has. Riley had a super white tongue as a baby, which I thought maybe was thrush, but turned out to be milk tongue.

It's hard to say. I just noticed a red spot on the inside of Rubys mouth too. Do your nips have any signs of thrush? Does he seem cranky when he nurses? If not, I wouldn't do anything. But if he has signs, I'd try some gentian violet.

The doctor said he has a mild case of thrush on the inside of his mouth, but that the sore on the outside is not related. We are doing 1% hydrocortisone topped with aquaphor on the sore, and she gave a prescription for nystatin, but said since it is a mild case of thrush to try probiotic yogurt for 3-4 days first before filling the prescription. I'm also drinking kefir for the extra probiotics so that I won't get a transfer of the infection from him nursing. The only signs of it that I had was about three weeks ago when I had piercing pain when he nursed.
