Hey ladies; I am just getting over a bad bout of mastitis. Again. I tried getting rid of it naturally but it kept getting worse. So I got antibiotics and am now feeling better but I'm battling a yeast imbalance. Just can't win. I started on grapefruit seed extract and probiotics, on top of taking the antibiotics and stuff, so hopefully that will help.
I am going to catch up on posts a bit now! hope everyone is well.

Thank you guys. I don't understand why I keep getting these plugged ducts and mastitis. Hopefully this will be the last bout!

I'm so sorry Nina. Can you switch up your nursing positions more?

Ugh. So sorry you're going through this again! I agree with Kristen about trying lots of varying nursing positions!

Sorry Nina - it's so frustrating when we have boobie issues! Have you looked into taking Lethecin as a supplement? It's supposed to help the consistency of your milk to prevent clogged ducts.

I have thought about taking that. Maybe I need to start. I read there is no real evidence that it does anything but I am willing to give it a try at this point. Lol.
I do need to switch positions! I'm just not comfortable in any but the "standard" position. Especially football! So cumbersome to me. Lol.

The lethecin DOES work. I had a nasty bleb blister that kept coming back and once I took the supplement it went away and stayed away.

Oh Nina I feel your pain!!! I am suffering through a really bad case of mastitis too and I feel sometimes like I'm the only one this happens too. It's been one plugged duct after another and this is my second time ending up with mastitis this pregnancy. I was on antibiotics for a week with no change and they ended up doubling my antibiotics. It's been almost 3 weeks now and I'm still swollen and now they think I have Thrush. I've been tempted to throw in the towel several times. I will say that Lecithin really does work. You have to take enough though - 3,600 to 4,800 mg's. I buy the Sunflower Lecithin in 1200 mg capsules and take 2 in the morning and 2 at night. I had run out of Lecithin before this last round of plugged ducts etc. and I really think that contributed to the problem. Also, when I pump now, I put a heating pad under my breasts and around the outside for a few minutes beforehand.

Bless your heart; can't believe you had it again. Hope it stays away after this.
