What do you want your children to call you, mom, mama, etc? Would you ever let your kids call you by your first name?

My 5 yr old calls me mommy most of the time, my 3 year old calls me mama. And now Ruby calls me mama.

My 3 year old called my husband by his first name the other day, it caught me off guard but it was really funny.

We (me, DH, and my mom) refer to me as "mama" around Madalyn. She hasn't called me anything yet.

I think it's important that Madalyn knows my first name, but not refer to me as that. It's a pet peeve when a child doesn't know that their mother has a name and isn't just "mommy" !

I would not like to hear my own name from Kinslie's mouth! haha I'm supposed to be her momma! Anyways I believe I'll be "Mom" because that is how Kinslie says it now. No Ma-Ma, She says "Mom...Mom..Mom" all day long lol. Grandma is "Mmmm..Ma" Though. That's probably why.

Josiah calls DH and I by our first names when he wants to get our attention. It's funny, doesn't bother me. The rest of the time, I am Mom or Mommy. I refer to us as Mama and Daddy when talking to Jamison. He hasn't said anything except "hug" yet, so it will be interesting to see what "title" he latches onto!

Claire calls me Mama, and so does Abigail. That's what I prefer to be called, so we're doing good.

DH and I call each other "Honey" a lot, so Claire will call me that sometimes

DS calls me mommy. He's recently started transitioning to "mom", it almost makes me sad that he's getting older. DD1 calls me mama (21months) and Allison is starting to babble mamamama :-)

I don't mind either Mom, Mommy, or Mama. We use Mommy or Mama mostly right now. DH is Daddy. I do not want him to refer to use by our first names. He can know them, but not call us by them.

I prefer mommy or mom, daddy or dad (dada or mama too), but first name? no.... only to know if needed, but to call me by my name, is just disrespectful in my opinion.

DD1 calls me mommy most times; she calls me mom when she needs my attention and I am not responding. She has tried calling her dad by first name couple of times but I have told her that's a no no. We'll see if Luyando follows her suit in calling mommy.

Lila calls me mom (pronounced "mum" ) and DH is daddy (she says it like "da-ee" )
She has a speech disorder so frankly she can call us whatever she wants just as long as she's saying something. We're not a fan of "daddy" but we'll take it. We just want to hear her voice She didn't call me mom until she was 3 so if she wanted to call me by my first name I would have been thrilled. I'm sure Eleanor will call us whatever Lila calls us.
