Sorry I haven't been posting much for the past few days. Elijah has been very sick. I knew something wasn't right, so I took him to Urgent Care. They tested him for strep (negative) and then sent him home. She said it "could be" whooping cough, but they have no way to test for that. She wrote "allergies" on his discharge papers. ?!?! Not with a cough like that!!

I knew it was not just a regular cold, so when DH got home, we decided I should take Elijah to the ER while he watched the other kiddies. Glad I did! After a chest x-ray and a swab, it was determined that Elijah has RSV. They gave him a breathing treatment and steroids and he seemed so much better. We got to go home, but he has to have breathing treatments around the clock and steroids for four more days.

Always listen to your instincts! Doctor's are not always right. Please keep Elijah in your prayers. Thank you!

Oh no!! I can't believe the nurse sent you home without testing for rsv, with as common as that is...
I will definitely keep him in my thoughts. Lots of hugs, mama.

Thanks, everyone. He is doing much better. Still lots of coughing, but it doesn't sound as bad as it did.

We went for a follow-up at a new pediatrician and she was very knowledgeable about RSV, which was very reassuring. Got lots of great info.

He is doing so much better today! He is still coughing, but it's not the scary cough! He is very active... crawling to all the things he isn't supposed to touch and laughing on his way.
