I'll start with throwing out a scenario and the next person answers with their opinion of the appropriate age, then they throw out scenario for someone else to answer.

Josiah had his first sleepover with out of town guests last weekend at age 4. I most likely wouldn't do sleepovers at a friends house until grade school.

At what age is it appropriate for a girl to wear small amounts of makeup?

If they are playing around then I don't see a problem with it, I have a photo of me with lip stick smeared all over my face at 2 or 3 . But when it's serious then it would be 15 or 16, the start of High School, kids these days are trying to grow up too fast .

What age is appropriate for a boy or girl to have their first real date. Does the gender matter or should it be the same?

Dating, I'll say age 16 at the least for me; older would be great. Dating should be in a group at 16; maybe at 19 there can be one on one dating. For me no gender difference.

What age should a child have their first car?

Their own car? When they can pay for it. Until that they are welcome to borrow one from Mom and Dad

At what age would you let your child color their hair?

We'll get our kids a pre-paid phone to use for emergencies when they start going places without us (trips with church friends, sporting events, etc.).

For an actual phone to call their friends, text, etc. it will depend on the maturity of our kids and their ability to use it responsibly...but it for sure won't be before they are in high school.

What do you think is an appropriate age for a child to start getting an allowance?
