Elijah sometimes gags on his food and that makes him throw up. Has anyone else's baby done this? I think it's usually when I mix in the yucky smelling meats, but it's happened without the meat, too. I think when it's too thick?

Luyando does not do it with baby food but with table food. For example, the day we were eating crab and I gave her a piece that was a bit big and probably not he softest crabmeat either. She didn't chew well and tried to swallow, gagged and her whole dinner came out She's done it a couple of times but that last incident has made me more conscious making sure I don't give her a whole lot and to give her what will dissolve easily in her mouth.

It happened when we started BLW at 6-7months old but now he does good as long as he gets small pieces

Claire used to do that with cottage cheese...something about the little chunks didn't agree with her at all. George and Abigail haven't done that yet, but I haven't given them cottage cheese, either

He does gag a little if he tries to swallow a chunk too fast but he hasn't puked.

That's what Elijah does, just with purees if they are too thick. Thanks for the response... just wanted to make sure that was okay.

Emma gags if her food is not strained mush still. She wants NO part of chunk type food. It must still be mushy like rice cereal and stage 1-2 type foods.
She has no teeth...but still?

Sean does if he pushes the food too far back into this throat.
