So I can't really say what toy is Ruby's favorite, there are a few.

She really loves her magneatos that I picked up at a yard sale a few years ago.

I keep them in a basket and she dumps it and takes the magnets apart and puts them together. The toy is completely safe and the fact that they are attracted to each other adds a bit of excitement to the regular "dump and chew" play. She can sit with them for a good 10 minutes.

She also enjoys her Tolo shape sorter.

She can't unscrew the top but if I take the top off she will dump out the shapes and play with them one by one. Each shape is filled with little balls so they make soft noise when moved. She is just getting the idea that the shapes go in the matching shape holes and has started to try that out. It is another toy that can hold her attention for a 10 minute chunk.

Lastly, she loves this activity cube.

It holds her attention for a long time too, but I don't love it because she tries to pull up on it and it will tip. She loves all the little pieces that move and flap, and she loves the beads on the top. I just can't leave her unsupervised with this toy or there will be tears.

Even my 3-year old would love those magneatos! I had never heard of them...off to Google!

Kristen, how little are the balls? I am looking at some on Amazon and it says "not for children under 3" but every toy seems to say that, so that doesn't really tell me anything. Are they small enough to put into their mouth?

I don't know why it says that, maybe because they figure you need to be around 3 to know how to build something? This is how big the balls are, the same size as the little fisher price gumball machine balls.

Thanks, Kristen! They probably just put the "not for kids under 3" thing to cover them legally? I don't know. I'm going to show DH these when he gets home from work...some relatives sent us money to buy the babies toys (they live far away and don't know what to get), and I'm pretty sure he'll want to order these pronto
