I have a religious question that is bothering me. I know that discussing this stuff can lead to controversy and issues and I don't want that. I just don't know who else to ask or turn to. Do you think we can discuss divorce and remarriage (and the views of different denominations) without it turning into a huge deal or do you know of an active forum that would be a better place to ask?

If anyone here wants to add anything, I was wondering what you feel about divorce and remarriage. Is it allowed? Under special circumstances? Never? What about the Catholic practice of annulment?

Are you asking our personal opinions or our religious opinions?

Religious, mostly, but you can share your personal opinions as well.

I always assumed that Christians viewed divorce in the same light as homosexuality. That's how I was raised anyway.

Personally, I think way too many people get out of marriage too easily now because it's so common, and I think it's unfortunate. I do think there is a place for it though.

As a xtian, I view divorce as something God says he hates but he knows we will do because our hearts are hard (e.g. unforgiveness, etc.). So, it will and can happen. Marriage takes 2 people and one person's commitment is not enough. So, I totally understand and am supportive of those that have had to deal with divorce. It hurts all involved at the end of the day but it happens and we just need to find the best way to move on. And it can happen to anybody so no one should look down on those that have had to deal with it.

Totally agree... too many walk away too quickly.

I've been through a divorce because my ex abandoned me while I was pregnant, admitted to cheating, and many other awful things (like hiding our marriage, not living with me, etc). Recently, I was told that the Catholic Church would want me to have that annuled. I'm not Catholic, but I just thought it was odd and confused because it doesn't say that in the Bible. Just now realizing that they do a lot of things that aren't in the Bible... so definitely not for me.
