I was just notified that one of the moms at my moms group at church just passed away.

She passed away due to complications during childbirth. Her baby daughter survived. She also has a husband and a 2 yr old boy!! My heart just breaks for them!!

Sorry to be a bummer...just wanted to share. Sooo sad!

Update....She was having a home birth, and attempting a VBAC also. She hemorrhaged during the delivery and thats how she passed away. Sad...

Home birth + VBAC sounds a bit dangerous to me. (Im no expert, just a thought.) Still a tragedy!

Wow, praying for the family. Who knows it may not have been an easy choice with the way doctors are against vbac. Although I won't try it but I know of a lady who had couple of kids vaginally, one c/s, and doctors won't let her do vbac so she did home birth so as to have a vbac. She has since had 2 or so vbacs after that. She probably has more than 10 kids now. Wish doctors would be more supportive of mothers' decision. Oh well, all water under the bridge now. Sad

I wondered if that happened. I would never have a home birth, especially with my history. I definitely would have died had I been at home! So, so, so sad.

What a terrible tragedy. I was talking with a doula friend of mine here in WA prior to seeing this post about VBAC's, and she told me that in our area, there are only a few rogue midwives willing to do VBAC's as home deliveries. The rest will either refuse to do the birth, or require that it be done in the hospital. I can't imagine attempting a home birth VBAC... things can turn for the worse so quickly. That poor, poor family! I will be keeping them in my prayers.
