Tonight Emma fell on her mouth on the hard kitchen floor. She busted her bottom lip and cut her gums and cut the underside of her bottom lip.
As you all know I have 10 children and as you can imagine I have seen it all for sure. I must say that I have never ever seen so much blood from a mouth/face injury in my life. It scared us all so badly. We couldn't tell how bad she was hurt until we cleaned the blood to look.My 15 and 13 year old cried!!
I threw a ton of clean washcloths in a cold pot of water with ice and let her suck on each one and then changed it out for a cold one . She did that while we cleaned her up. The coldness from the sucking on the icey washcloths made the blood vessels shrink and stop the bleeding.
She looks o.k. but has a bottom fat lip. She turns one Nov 2 and I hope its healed by then for pictures.
Anyone else had some bad baby boo boo's yet?

Aw, poor Emma! I hope she heals quickly and that it doesn't bother her too much.

We have been pretty lucky so far...just minor scrapes and bruises *knock on wood*.

Poor baby. Hope it heals very quickly. Luyando has hit her lip once and I first freaked out because I thought it was one of her tooth or more. But after cleaning I saw it was just her lip. Her crying like she was about to die didn't help this freaked out mama either. They are pretty resilient though, such injuries don't faze them, she was back to doing whatever she was doing before she hit her mouth after couple of minutes. Hope she is back to being her spunky self.

How sad! Smart mama with the icy washcloths. I'm sorry that happened. We haven't really had any bloody accidents but my 3 year old did open the door when ruby was sitting there and it hit her head and gave her a huge egg.

Sadly we experienced one tonight. She was walking along one of the coffee tables my parents have, and I think she tripped or miss her footing, fell with her mouth opened and bit her lip. She hasn't bit her lip in so long since having teeth, I think it honestly scared her - she bled and everything, felt so bad

Oh no. Poor Kathy.

That sounds scary. Mouth injuries do bleed so much! That wash cloth idea is super smart btw. I'll have to remember that!

We've had some bruising but luckily no bleeds. She's tripped twice while walking along the coffee table and banged her cheek bone.
