We will be RF until 2 and then see how it goes. We have a Radian so I expect we'd be able to RF longer than that if we so choose. It's my job to be Sean's parent, not his friend. I take his happiness into consideration when I can but when it comes to his health and safety his happiness comes second.
I'm getting flack from our parents for keeping him RF. They don't understand since they never kept us RF that long. One of my friends said it well when she said "parenting is about knowing what is the 'right' thing to do and figuring out what's best for your own situation."
Lori, I hope you aren't upset with me... I just mentioned you in conversation to Christi just pointing out that you may have not heard what the research says just like I hadn't. My other kids are a lot older, and extended rear facing was not recommended back then.
I'm not old, mind you... I'm 32... but my older kids are 12, 10, and 7.
Just had a discussion with DH this weekend. He's fine with us RF until 2 and then seeing how it goes. Our pedi said it's safest. And DH is totally more "old-fashioned" ... all of his siblings are a lot older than him and so he has attitudes of a person who is much older than he is.
