This is my Grandma's recipe. It makes a large batch, but I freeze half. It's great to pull out of the freezer when your short on time. It is amazing!
1 whole cut-up chicken
3-4 bay leaves
1/2 C. Orrington Farm Chicken Soup base (secret ingredient)
1 T. salt, 1/2 T. pepper
4-5 large carrots peeled and chopped
4-5 celery stalks chopped
small onion chopped
2-3 white potatoes (can omit)
Large handful of Kluski noodles
Put chicken in a large pot, cover with water, add 3-4 bay leaves. Bring to boil, turn heat to med/low ans simmer for about 1 hour. Test for done-ness by pulling meat from bone (it will easily separate). Remove chicken with thongs, place on cookie sheet to cool.
Add soup base to pot of water, stir well (keep heat on). Add salt and pepper, remove bay leaves.
Add cut-up veggies to soup base, cook on low-med heat until tender (20-30 minutes). Cut chicken into bite size pieces while the veggies simmer.
Add chicken and noodles during last 10 minutes, stir well. Simmer until noodles are tender.
