My mom intended Beth to be my Hebrew name, but since house isn't a proper Hebrew name, you need to be named for a person, when I had my bat mitzvah ceremony (as an adult, I was 24) I chose to be Batya, since it was the closest i could find, to Beth.
My children, I have a girl and a boy, with my daughter being 6 years older than my son. Jessica's Hebrew name is Miriam, I named her for my great grandmother. Then my son, Joseph, even though obviously the name on his birth certificate would do just fine, I named him Moshe Shlomo. So I have Miriam and Moses, 6 years apart. Totally perfect, I think.
Both my kids have the same Hebrew and english (or in my case, spanish) names: David and Aaron. When I was pregnant with David, we already knew that was gonna be his name because of DH's grandfather, but we were told that it's good for the neshamah, the soul, if the person is commonly called by his/her Jewish name. So we decided to go ahead and use the same names.
My Hebrew name is Sarah.
I am namd for my great grandfather, and he was rachmeil, so I am Rachmelia. Hence my screen name
My older son is named for his paternal grandmother who was yehudit, so he is yehuda. My younger son was named for my grandfather so his hebrew name is Aaron Yeshuah, which was my grandfathers hebrew name.
Mine is Faigy..
My daughter is Libby Esther (in hebrew the first name sounds more like Libi though when you say it). She has the on her birth certificate. She was named after my husbands great gransmother Luba. (both names mean the same thing: heart, love..)
