I know its early but have you ladies thought about your birth plans?
I was talking to my mother and two of the ladiesthat work with her and mentioned that I wanted an all natural water birth and it was like the sharks came to feed basically they told me how sure they were that i would have to have a c-section or else the babies would die and or be in danger and basically I am an idiot for wanting that birth oh and that i couldn't handle the pain? Ugh my thought is when is the last time you did research on twin births or birthing in general? I learned my lesson, im sorry the day they push these babies out is when you get too tell me. anyway lol I got off topic, what kind of birth do you want?

I swear, people get so rude about birth! Or anything to do with babies and parenting This time, I'd like to have a natural birth. Both girls had merconium in the waters, so I won't have a home birth, but this being #3, I know what works for me (for instance, when I'm standing, contractions don't hurt as bad) and I will NOT stay in bed. Thankfully this time, we'll have someone to watch our girls. With my second, we couldn't get a hold of anyone to watch DD, so she was in the room, so DH was more focused on her than me, which is understandable. I'd like to look into techniques that DH can help me with labor. I'm not opposed to the epi, but this is my last shot and I'd like to do it the way I always thought I would.

Thank you .h00dihoo.this. for my gorgeous siggy!!
People can say SO not the right things sometimes. It baffles me when people can be so negative and non-supportive when it comes to other peoples goals, especially during pregnancy.
All I know is that I want a planned c/s this time... I need to look into the hospital policies and come up with a good c/s birth plan! I've never made one of those, so this will be new to me!

I have been thinking about this non.stop! Things happened last time that I refuse to have happen again. I don't really know if I'll go for natural yet but some of the things that I will be doing this time
1. Will not be forced down in a hospital bed, I will walk when I wish
2. No IV, I will get the needle placed but will only have fluids if absolutely necessary
3. No DANG PITOCIN!
4. Epi will be held off as long as possible if at all
5. I will eat and drink when I want to
6. I will never consent to a csection
7. Will be delaying cord clamping
Katherine- nobody would watch dd? That would stress me out I think. I can't even imagine, if Dh wasn't paying attemtion to me i flipped out when I had DS lol
Kelli- this will also be my first birth plan so I'm enjoying watching YouTube videos of soon to be mamas going over their birth plans.
clm817-all of your wishes sound very similar to mine. ill be interested to see if my hospital actually respects my wishes. they are supposed to be the best labor and delivery in the state so I would think they would.

We called everyone we knew (well, he did, lol) and no one was answering!!! His parents were on the way, but they lived 3 hours away and didn't make it in time, lol (my labor from start to finish was 3 hours 44 minutes and my FIL is a ridiculously s...l....o...w... driver!). People started returning DH's calls after she was here. It all happened so fast, but it was nice to have her there. I was able to focus on her (and I'm not a screamer in labor). She was the first person to give her little sister a kiss and that is a memory that I will never ever be able to forget (still brings tears to my eyes).
I'm really saddened that they aren't being supportive of your choices... After all it is YOU giving birth, not them
After the 3 births I have had, I think there are a couple things I'd like to TRY for... I want a hospital birth, I had thought about a home birth, but don't think I can and after some of the stuff that happened w/ both DS & DD's births, I think I feel more secure in a hospital anyway. I would like to try to go natural again, like it was with DS because I honestly found it far less painful... I also know that I would feel much safer having IV drugs than an epidural (those freak me out).

That really is awsome! Very sweet.
Tanya- they also think the fact that im cloth diapering and exclusively breast feeding is going to be way too much. I don't know what they think people did before disposables, epidurals, and formula. Not that I'm against those things but I do think whatever a mothers personal choices on her children, if ypu dont have something nice to say don't say it at all. lol man i didnt realise how much that got under my slin until now.

Wow, I am surprised that they acted so strongly thinking you will not be able to do a vaginal delivery....
I am not sure yet what my hopes are for this birth. With both of my girls I was GBS+ so I had to have an IV with antibiotics during labor. This kept me from moving around and being stuck to the bed was very uncomfortable (went natural with #2, epi with #1). If I am GBS+ again, I may just get an epidural. If I am not though, I think I will go for a natural delivery again.

Loving my hubby and sweet girls- Kayla, Kinley, and our newest addition Briella Joy 11/11/12 My three girls
I had a whole natural birth plan for my son, that went right out the window when we found out he was breech and I ended up having a C-section (wrote a separate birth plan for that). So this time I'm excited to give my original birth plan a try, with my VBAC!
All I know is that I want a planned c/s this time... I need to look into the hospital policies and come up with a good c/s birth plan! I've never made one of those, so this will be new to me!
For my son's birth I had cards. One each for my nurse, the baby nurse, and the anesthesiologist. The one I wrote for the anesthesiologist ended up being the most important, as he was really the guy that ran my end of the show. I got him to basically do a running commentary on everything that was happening over the curtain, and he described all the drugs I received and what they did and why I was given them, with the option to refuse the "optional" drugs. (For example, I was not given the anti-nausea drug until I requested it when they were externalizing my uterus, and I did not receive the anti-histamine at all - no reaction to the numbing agent).
I really feel like I EXPERIENCED that dang C-section!
This is my first pregnancy, I don't know what I can handle. My plan right now is to do it in a hospital, I would like to have a vaginal birth with no drugs. We'll see. I'm not opposed to having an epidural, and will get one if I need it, but I would like to try without it.
All I know is I would really love to do it with no epidural this time, because of my experience with my last epidural. Baby will also be placed right on me(didn't get this with my first so now I make it known ahead of time!). Other than that I'm not planning much else because if I have pre-e again it'll all go right out the window anyway.
I have had 4 natural births. 3 in a hospital (2 with an OB who tried to talk me into an epidural the entire time and 1 with a midwife that was wonderful) and 1 in a birthing center where it as just me and I went home a few hours later. It was AMAZING. That is what I am hoping for again. The only issue is that my insurance doesn't cover a midwife (you know, they prefer outrageous hospital bills, extra unneccessary testing, etc) and it's quite a bit out of pocket for me.
Sorry they were not supportive of what you want I'm probably a dr's dream. I go with what ever my dr wants. I will have pitocin, because they are delivering me at 39 weeks because of my diabetes, I'll get the epidural (probably, I did have 1 epidural fee birth and it was my easiest recovery, so we'll see) and anything he wants I'll get. He has delivered 5 of my kids 2 of those being high risk.

Ok, you sound like my kinda girl!! With DS I had an emergency c/s and I was non-stop asking the anesthesiologist questions! I was also commenting on my own vitals, watching my O2 sats, asking what meds he was pushing!! Lol!
I'd love to see your c/s birth plan if you still have it!
I had a successful VBAC with my daughter, so I have no doubts you will do great especially from what I can tell about your determination and mindset!!

If it goes anything like my first, with labor starting with my water breaking than I will go to the hospital right away instead of dragging my feet last time because my labor progressed so quickly. If I DO happen to actually have some warm up labor this time around I will do that at home.
No epi or IV drugs. With DS I had no epi and tried the IV drugs.. no thank you ever again. My energy went STRAIGHT out the window, I was drained, and it did nothing for the pain.. and my mind became foggy and now I don't remember much of my birth. Never again.
Delayed cord clamping this time around for sure, and I am NOT getting on my darn back when it's time to push this time!!! God that hurt!
This is such a helpful thread for me as a first-timer! Very interesting to hear what worked, and what didn't from the BTDT moms, especially those who've experienced both natural and epi births.
