Anyone planning on going all out for the nursery? I swore I wasn't going to do much of anything with Akadia but as soon as I found out it was a girl, I went a little nuts and painted the spare room pink and the rest is history. She has the best decorated room in the house. Now, I'm swearing again that I'm not going to do much and if it's a girl, I really will not, she'll just bunk with Akadia. If it's a boy though, I know I'm going to be tempted to redo the office. Anyone else already perusing nursery themes? I'm thinking jungle animals if it's a boy with some wall decals or something.
Yup I've already been looking! If it's a girl though it'll just have Sofia's room, she's moving in with Carly. It's so girly already. If its a boy I'm going to do a rocketship theme. I already found fabric online I want to use for my mom to make bedding.
Well, I know the color themes but thats about it. Chocolate brown and pink for girl and chocolate brown and blue/teal for boy. I already know which room will be for little monster and feel bad for DH as it is where his computer is, to bad he is moving to the basement lol
We did chocolate brown and pink for Akadia's nursery with these awesome brown butterfly wall hangings I found online. So her theme is basically pink and brown butterflies.
I've "built" a room on pinterest... colors I like on one pin, wall art on another, etc... I think it'll be pretty easy to pull off, and it's relatively gender neutral, so we can get started early and add personal details once we find out the gender!
If it's a girl we are covered.
I will just get a new picture for the wall with baby girl's name instead of her big sister's.
Here is what she will have (we have since moved but all the stuff is the same):
If it's a boy, I'm not sure, something very simple--no characters or anything like that.
We didn't find out with Landen until birth what he was so the theme was Winnie the Pooh and the walls are yellow and some Winnie the Pooh wall decals and boarder and then I have winnie the pooh pictures and quotes. I had a rocking chair and ottoman that I reupholsted to green to match and he has green black out curtains so it was pretty cute and decorated. Lots of large winnie the pooh animals in the room also. For this one we are not finding out the gender also so the new baby will move into the nursery and we are currently turning the bedroom right next to the nursery into Landen's room. It is John Deere tractor theme. 3 of the walls are light brown and one wall is dark brown like his comforter. I will get a couple of john deere signs, I think some john deere tractor green colored curtains and his bed is ordered and on the way
He is really excited for his bed to come. He is ready for a new room anyway and I want him to have his new room early so that he doesn't feel pushed out of his room by the baby.
If this is a girl I think I will do a fairy theme with lots of PINK!
If it is a boy, I'm not sure. DS's room was light blue toile with cherry furniture. I loved it. He has since moved on to a firetruck room, but I no longer have his baby bedding so I would have to do something new.
I'm thinking about something simple using primary colors so it is gender neutral. The furniture will be a med/dark wood and I already have a huge M&M collection so those might just become the theme. I know that I am not going to do much, I'd rather keep the room neutral and have the ability to change it as the baby grows.
I've put some thought into it but I really dont know. Im hoping to move before the babies are born but Idk. We signed a 1 year lease but im sure he will let us out of it. I really won't know until we find out the genders. but I love the idea of going all out.

I never finished my son's nursery! We moved into our house when he was 18 months old. The walls of this room were red and white, with BLACK trim!! I did the walls grey and it was supposed to be a Moon-themed, but I never got around to painting the mural I designed. I was too burnt out after all those coats it took to cover the ugly paint. Maybe I will do that instead of focusing on a nursery, since the baby will likely be in our room for several months anyway.
Here are some before/after pics of my son's room, and the mural I was planning to paint. The dog and cat match the headboard of his toddler bed.
I'm not a "theme" person, but when we found out with DS I went crazy with my registry and registered for everything for a sports theme room! I was possessed by some kinda of nesting demon!
If this LO is a boy then they will share a room (I will redo the room into a big boy room for Eli with lots of navys, greys, and reds). If this is a girl and we are hopefully moved, I hope to do a really girly/vintagey room for her.
I haven't decorated a nursery in 4 years, and we didn't own a house with my other 3 girls. We have our own house and a cute little room for the nursery so, I will be painting and decorating for sure. But, it will have to be a budget-friendly project. I have been eyeing pinterest for ideas since before I got my BFP. lol I can't wait 5 more weeks til we find out boy or girl so I can start!
