With DS I used a platex double electric breast pump and a medela single manual pump. to be honest the medela manual pump that they gave me for free at the hospital worked better than the platex pump that i paid $100(I think) for. It worked for maybe one use ok and after that lost all suction. Im thinking of investing in the medela pump in style or the medela one that is hands free. they are pretty expencive but with two babies im thinking it will be worth every penny so that i can leave the house with out constantly having a boon out. or go out to dinner with family with out having to sit uncomftorably sitting in a bathroom stall. I exclusivy bf DS for 6 months and never quiet got the hang of pumping. Any suggestions or tips?

If you use wic, they will give you a free medela pump. I know that they do here. Worth a shot looking into

I highly recommend Medela. I have tried several other pumps with no luck. Their customer service is really good too if you ever have any trouble. I own 2 now because I exclusively pumped for a long time. I had one at work and one at home and they were both great machines. I would stick with electric though. I have a manual Medela and it's just not practical for regular use. I only used it for emergencies when I got engorged while I was out running errands or something and needed a quick release.

p.s. If you can get a hold of one of Babies R Us's 20% off coupons, that's the way to go in buying one of these. I did that for both of mine. They are pricey but so worth it and not an item I would scrimp on.

I have a medela, I think its the pump in style. We qualified for wic when I was in nursing school and I got it for free from them. Here you have to be in school or working, and have to have breastfed for a month, and only be giving a minimal amount of formula. It's a double pump and worked great.

I also had great success with the Medela brand. Some hospitals will rent out the super fancy ones if you want to make sure pumping works for you before you committ.

100% recommend the Medela pumps. I exclusively breastfed both girls for over a year and had the Medela swing, which is an electric single. But with twins on the way I am for sure investing in the pump in style! I was going to look into renting, but that turns out to be more expensive after just a few months.

I recommend the Medela Pump in Style.
I was planning on selling mine after DD2, but I'm so glad I didn't!

I have a Medela PIS as well and I really like it. I didn't use it much with DD #2, but I plan on going back to "work" (aka doing sessions) and will need to have baby getting the occasional bottle (and have daddy giving baby 1 bottle when he's home).

My Medela Pump in Style is worth it's weight in gold! lol. I still have mine from ten years ago. I BF'd two babes back to back, Alex for 14mo and William for 2 and 1/2 yrs. I worked full-time and did not use any formula. My pump went with me everywhere and always worked perfectly. Last year I lent it out to a friend, and it's still going strong! Get one, you won't regret it!

That is the kind I'm looking into getting this time too. I had some other brand when DS was a baby and it quit working after 2mo. I never got another, so I ended up not pumping at work and dried up at 3mo. This time I really want to try to BF and pump for alot longer.

I have a medela pump in style from DS that I plan to re-use and then my insurance pays for a free breast pump every yr. They buy the medela freestyle. So I can basically get one now and then anotherone for free after Jan 1st if I want.
