This morning, when I woke up, I was looking forward to a day of doing fun things with my DH since today is a holiday here so no work.
But I felt a leak of some sort of watery fluid from my vagina, just a few drops at a time. I had a bit when I got up, I decided to lay down again since I couldn't call my doctor and since there was just a little. I figured it could probably wait until tomorrow when her office is open. I did NOT want to go to the ER.
But it didn't let up, and at some point there was quite a bit, so with DH we decided to go in just to be safe. It was about 3:30 PM at that point.
At the ER they were great, they took me in right away, first thing was an ultrasound and there is plenty of fluid around the baby, she was moving around and had hiccups! She asked if we already knew what we were having (yes, a girl) and she confirmed. She wasn't worried at that point anymore but still did a swab and sent it to the lab to check for amniotic fluid just in case there was a small leak. So we had to wait half an hour and we got the all-clear!
She said we were right to come in, since just last week someone came in at 17 weeks with the same complaint but there was no amniotic fluid left and she lost her baby
After that we went to the park which is next to the hospital, but poor DH is so allergic to pollen now (first time ever, he wasn't before) that he went through an entire kleenex pack so we just went home.
I am so, so happy everything is ok, and really surprised in a good way that we got seen immediately at the ER on a holiday. Last time I went we waited 3 hours to find out we had miscarried (I was 9 1/2 weeks) which is why I was hesitant to go in.
