Hi All,
I wanted to let you guys know that we've given birth to a beautiful (I know I'm biased) baby girl! on April 10th. I have been MIA lately, as no one tells you the first 6 to 8 weeks SUCK!! especially if your in laws etc aren't even close to helpful - never mind that they live 20 minutes away!!!
Anyway, DH has been AWESOME and my sisters did come to help out. #4 came for 1 month, and #3 came for 1.5 weeks. Just goes to show that I'm better off relying on my sisters than my in laws....
Anyhoo - Nothing really earth shattering happened during the birth. At least nothing out of the ordinary

. I woke up at 2am on the 10th having some pains, but I decided to soldier on (and not wake DH) coz at that point I was 3 days late and it was possibly another false alarm. I did have a 9am appointment to see the OB and thought maybe I should just hold on till then... hahaha... oh how the pregnant brain tricks you!!
At about 5am the pain was getting a little harder to deal with (this is when I would've given myself an Advil) and I woke DH. It was actually kind of funny... he jumped...literally jumped out of bed and then couldn't figure out why I woke him... I had to repeat myself 'I think we need to go to the hospital'. He then asks me.... 'Did you want to walk there?' - okay.. for his benefit - we do live about 8 blocks from the hospital...and again... crazy me.. goes - I think I can...but 2 minutes later I was singing a different tune!!. We drove all of 8 blocks

.
We get there and go to the PETU, to find out that I'm already 5cm!! And I was thinking I think I can do this... the one thing I couldn't stand was that in the middle of a contraction my dear dear husband would ask me "are you ok" - SERIOUSLY?!! Oh yeah... I called for the epidural coz I wasn't gonna wait to find out what the pain is like when I'm at 8cm.
They moved me to L&D and from there it was simply a waiting game... DH filmed, my SIL showed up, my sister kept cracking jokes.. together with DH... good thing I was drugged up!! At about 1pm, they told me I should start pushing - so I did... within 1.5 hours Sofia was out kicking and screaming!!. All I could think was - boy does that kid have some lungs on her!! Then - can someone shut her up? I know... Hey.. I'm a FTM - cut me some slack. The Dr's did their thing and they handed me my little peanut for skin to skin and to initiate breastfeeding. Oh yeah... I had 3rd degree tears.
After 2 hours, they moved me to my room. The nurses were AWESOME.... and my little peanut was to die for....Anyhoo - we were discharged after 2 days and then the trial by fire commenced!
