Mason's Birth Story 8/13/2010 (my friday the 13th baby)

on thursday night i had eggplant parm for dinner at 5 pm. i was joking to the nanny that maybe it will put me in labor that night so i wont miss my obgyn over the weekend. i couldnt really sleep well that night but i didnt feel tired, i felt almost anxious. at 5am my son woke up for water and after i left his room i went to pee and i felt a little gush after, when i wiped it was extremely wet cm. i didnt think anything of it because my water has never broken before on its own. i went back to bed and as i am laying there i started getting really bad period like cramps. i got up again and felt another gush. so i called my dr and he said to come into the hospital (he was already there) i told my husband to stay home because i wasnt 100 percent sure what was happening and i didnt want to cause an uproad in the house at 5:15 lol. i took a shower and headed over the the hospital. my dr checked me and said yep it broke, and your 4 cm. he admitted me, i called my husband. around 9 am they started pitocin to get my contractions regular they were all over the place, it went really smooth, i got an epidural at 6 cms, and went from 6 - 10 in less than an hour and a half. i told the nurse it was time and i needed to push, she laughed at me and said ok start pusing i said no get the dr because it wont take more than one. again she laughed and said tit doesnt work that way. sure enough i waited the dr walked in and said ok start pushing, i pushed mason came out and the dr barely got the second glove on

anyway it was very smooth and uneventful, the epidural wore off about 20 minutes before i pushed so i felt everything, i did get one stitch, which he said i probably didnt need but he felt better doing it.

i felt so good after it was almost insane. the nurse in maternity couldnt believe i just had a baby.

mason was born at 4:44 weighing 7lbs and 15ounces height 21inches.
