Who plans to use cloth for their babies? Landon has been cloth diapered since he was 5 mo old.

I considered it last time but decided against it. I can barely keep laundry caught up as it is. There are so many cute covers though.

I am planning on it. Maybe we will get some sposies for when we are going to be out for awhile (only the "green" ones though). The DH was a little reserved about it at first but when i showed him the pics of the cloth diapers he was in love! haha! He just feels like we should use sposies if the baby ever goes to stay with someone just in case they are a little weird about doing cloth. But these days the AIO diapers are so easy snap out snap in! Sorry for the long post I just really love the little diapers!!

We're considering it, but haven't decided for sure yet. It's our first baby and I'll be staying at home, so I think it'll be worth it to at least give 'em a try.

Me! Both my children were cloth diapered babies, so I can't picture this one will be any different. Cloth diapers are SO cute.

I intended to use G-diapers with Marlowe, and even went so far as to purchase the starter pack, but it just didn't happen. I still love the idea of them, particularly since G-diapers are like the best of both worlds, with an option to use either a cloth or a disposable (but compostable/biodegradable) liner. I'll probably pull them back out with #2 and try a second go-round at it.

I intended to CD my DD when she was born, but didn't have the money to buy the diapers at first. A would buy them here and there. I never CD 100% of the time, but when we were hanging around home I would do it usually. I hope to CD this one more often! I loooved doing the diaper laundry!!

I used bum genius (which are good from about 10lbs to potty training) and used and loved fuzzy bunz (sz S, she's now outgrown them) on Mallory. I do have sposies for when we go out and for Grandma's house.

We're debating about it. On the one hand my only experience with cloth are the old fashioned ones with pins... and because of the water and heat used for laundry I'm not convinced that cloth is really that much better environmentally than the biodegradable sposies. There is a really good service here in town that we will use if we go that route though, as I'm just not all that interested in the whole washing poopie diapers idea. Right now I'm leaning toward sposies when he/she is brand new and then transitioning to cloth when they get a little bigger.

Becky - re poopy diapers, I have these liners (they look like dryer sheets) so most of the poop goes on that and they are biodegradable and you can just plop them in your toilet, so there isn't really THAT much poo on the diapers.
And yes, they have come a LOOOONG way from white triangles and pins!!
We have a high efficiency washer and dryer, so, for me, I do find it environmentally sound. And yes, you do use water to wash them, but that is a renewable resource. Cloth diapers are also free of the many chemicals contained in disposable diapers, which is one of the reasons I want to use them. Also, it's cheaper and now I'll be able to use these diapers on our next little one as well.
I did use newborn disposables because the poo is just so runny, so I did what you are wanting to do and did sposies right away and then cloth thereafter.
If anyone is interested in more info on cloth diapering - Why choose cloth diapers? Real Diaper Association Diaper Facts.

The extra laundry has been totally doable for me and it's my favorite laundry to do since it's so cute! If people are thinking of cloth I'd recommend natural fibers (not microfiber). Natural fibers tend to wash better and have way less build up issues. Just my opinion.

Landon's mommy - what soap do you use? I use Charlies and I've never had a build up issue (I use microfiber) I want some hemp liners though - do you use those? Have you ever tried babykicks?

I used cloth diapers with my son for a while and LOVED them. But I don't have access to free laundry facilities where I am now and couldn't afford to wash the diapers enough.
This time around we will have a washer and dryer so we will be using cloth for the baby!

I use Charlies as well but until recently I've had a crappy washer which could be partly to blame. I've had my new washer for a few months but have not tried microfiber in it yet.

We have a little supply going....going to give it a shot at least. It may not be right for us (as I HATE laundry) but they are so darn cute I wanted to at least try them.

I'm planning on it. I've already won several through online giveaways and have a nice little stash started. They're all so cute!

We will use disposables. I had really wanted to with Evie but the initial cost of investing in all the cloth diapers seemed unreasonable and I am not good at keeping up with laundry. Also, from working in childcare and changing babies in cloth diapers I got to see side by side the difference in changings and how much more difficult it is. The amount of time it would take me to change the babies in the cloth diaper I could have already done 3 or 4 in the disposable lol, so I just couldn't bring myself to make the committment.... BUT I definitely think families who do cloth should be congratulated

What do all the CDing mommies use for dipes?
Do any of the mommies who are new to CDing have questions?
For us bum genius covers with prefolds stuffed inside works the best
