I went ahead and ordered the doppler. Yay!! I think I was most disappointed with my appt because we didnt try to hear the heartbeat (well that and my impromptu pap smear) but I understand they may not have wanted to try and if we dont hear anything create concern...so I am over it. I have ordered my doppler from the same place Mary (Gardenbelle) ordered and I cant wait for it to come in.

I also decided not to switch OB...the people were all really nice and yes, I would have wanted to hear the heartbeat and possibly do an u/s...but my time will come and it will be here before you know it. I will probably go to a private party later and do the 4D and my doppler is coming so I can listen to the heartbeat all I want =)

So I know several ladies have bought the doppler...whats your review? happy you got it? should have saved your money? any helpful hints or tricks to keep in mind when mine comes in?

Exciting about ordering the doppler! I hope they work out for you too! As far as tips, have a full bladder, put the doppler wand really low, like right above your hairline and tilt it around instead of dragging the wand. Take your time and move it very slowly so you don't miss it. I've found it's kind of hit and miss if you find it between 8-10 weeks, but after that, it's pretty easy to find it every time.

I ordered mine yesterday...cannot wait to hear the heartbeat since I won't be hearing it at the doctor any time soon.

Use a slow rocking motion with the doppler. Also, propping your hips up with pillows helps push everything forward.

I love my doppler from babybeat.com. Like Mary said, tilt the wand very slowly all around your pelvis. If your bladder is full, you may find it about 2inches off of your pelvic. Ive been finding it about that and towards the right hip bone. When the bladder is empty I find it a little lower and a bit under my hip bone.

Exciting! Mine is still sitting on my kitchen counter in the box. I'm sure I won't be able to hear anything yet, so I don't want to waste the gel and be disappointed I don't hear anything. I'll try in another week or so. Good to hear those tips, though!

I just found the heartbeat this morning. I had a full bladder! I'm pretty sure that helped. I am pleased with mine.
