I might be the weird one here, but how would you use it? Do you put it on between the new and old diaper? (As in, after the old diaper is off, but before the new one is on?)
If so, wouldn't that just make everything take longer? I'm a bit confused LOL

You would just quickly put it on while you're pulling the old diaper off and then take it off as soon as you're ready to close the new diaper. It's really small so it wouldn't get in the way.

Leave it! I have a boy and you can cover it with a wipe or diaper. Also, after a while you get fast at changing diapers and it's over before they know it started.

Leave it... I have accepted the inevitable fact that I will be peed on, especially if I have a boy. I think you can use a burp cloth or clean diaper in the same way for no extra cost.
