Of car seats if you dont buckle the kid in????
So I'm driving down the hwy at 60mph today and there is a lady in her minivan with 3 kids in the back. All looked to be between 2-5. Not a single one was buckled in the car seat. They were standing in them, sitting backwards in them or climbing over the seat.

Sorry had to rant over that, it just pissed me off soo much.

Doesn't that drive you crazy! That and pulling up to a car with a child in it and the parents smoking away. Makes me have huge road rage!

If you pulled beside me half of the time you would see the 3 year old out of his seat. I have bought 4 different seats this year and he can get out of every single one of them. No matter how many times he gets in trouble he will still do it, I pull over and buckle him back up and within 5 minutes he is out again. I think Im going to have to super glue his rear to the seat or get a wratcheting strap and tie him down....wonder if zip ties would work.

Lol I think in some situations the parents are to blame but at the same time my mother used to tell me "Raising stuppid kids would have been much easier" Yes we all think are children are brilliant but every once in awhile there comes the child that know matter what you do they figure out how to do the exact opposite. My 8 year old could have been an acrobat at like 8 months. He would climb the stairs so we bought a baby gate he climbed under the railing. So we blocked it, he climbed over the baby gate, We put up a giant box. He scaled the outside of the railing to throw himself over. I couldn't even leave him on the floor to go to the bathroom. This was all before he could walk. If this is your first baby be ready cause they will always suprise you.

Smoking in car with kids is illegal here...not that it stops anyone! I was a smoker but not with the KIDS! My dad did it to me growing up and I hated it! He would open the window less than the width of the cigarette and let the wind pull out the ash.
I HATE when I see babies not in seatbelts. The worst I have seen is a carload of kids in the back and one of them(probably 8-10y/o) is holding a baby less than a year old and the baby is half out the window and they are GETTING ON THE FREEWAY! I am NOT making this up! I could not believe my eyes! I've called the cops on people who drive with babies not in seatbelts.
Speaking of bad parents....My DH goes down the street to a bad store that has actually been robbed many times and one cashier was shot to death about 10 years ago or so(don't ask me why he went THERE!). He sees this little girl, about 4, standing outside of her car and her mom is inside, not looking at her or anything! My dh stands there and talks to the girl for about 5-10 mins so that nobody steals the poor kid. He said she was supersweet and talkative. So her B____ "mother" comes out and DH, who is normally very cool and collected, reams her out. She said she was watching the girl the whole time! Okay so that was a lie because he watched her and if she were watching, would she not run outside if some 6'5" guy with tattoos was standing there talking to her little girl?! What-evah!

I've taken care of kids that could figure out how to get out of their seats so I know that can be an issue... but all three of them?? My guess is that's a mom that just gave up and doesn't think it's worth the bother!

There are so so many tricks to keep kiddos in who figure out buckles and stuff but to be honest, my kids would NOT ride in the car or be allowed to except in an emergency if they didn't understand the safety. We plan to instill car seat safety basics from the beginning with little things so hopefully we don't run into as much resistance as they get older. When you see kids that are old enough for you to have conversation about it with, 4 or 5ish, that aren't in seats or bouncing around in the car and standing up, then it becomes a parental issue vs the child just unbuckeling. I get so upset when I see cars with NO carseats in them at all and just kiddos playing around sitting sideways whatever on the seat, no seatbelts, nothing. Hugest pet peeve in the planet is carseat misuse, misinformation, and lack of parents caring. I could totally see a littler kiddo figuring out the carseat buckle for the first time and mom not noticing at first or whatever to pull over but 3 kiddos! Geeze.

That is my nephew, he was 4 or almost 5 at the time. I had to go about 5 blocks to my mom's house and forgot to get his booster seat from my sister. This kid freaked out, "but I cant go you dont have my booster seat." I love that he is like that. No worries with him. Luckily all my nephews we big into their car seat, always wanted to buckle themselves in.
I hope Baby Girl is like that.

Yikes! I've only seen a child out of their carseat once and I was baffled. I used scare tactics to make sure my children are always buckled in. Maybe some might not agree with me, but I tell them the truth - if we get into a car wreck and they are not in their car seats, they will be thrown out of the car and crack their heads open.
Just last week, two boys in a town east of me (9 and 10 years old) were killed in a crash from being ejected from their rolling car. One of them wasn't wearing his seat belt. It breaks my heart to think that he could still be alive if only he had worn a seatbelt or better yet, been in a booster seat with a seat belt.

It's amazing how careless people are when in comes to the safety of their children! I am such a freak about making sure Landon is properly secured in his seat. The clip must be in the right spot and he must be tight enough or we don't move the car.

That irritates me also! I think what gets me more than that is, we were driving on the highway, we were doing about 80 and this mini van passes us doing about 90 or so, and in the front seat was a woman holding a toddler. We actually called HP on them.

That is so FREAKIN infuriating!! I have called the cops in the past when I've pulled up to a red light and a baby, maybe 18 mo old, is sitting on the lap of the passenger. I keep the non-911 number in my phone and memorize plate #'s
Its illegal here, too, to smoke in a car with kids.

Honestly... not buckling your kids in and having them improperly buckled is one of the most annoying things as a parent. We had to watch like 3 videos about car seat safety even though we had done loads of research before leaving the hospital. These parents obviously don't value their children's lives because there's not way in H-E- double hockey sticks that THREE chalupas know how to undo their belts in the same car. Seriously, just call the cops. Some people seem to care more when they have to pay a monetary value for it unfortunately.

three chalupas! lol
There was a guy here that was drunk driving during the day with all of his younger kids that weren't in school yet and none of them were in seatbelts or carseats. The b******d got in a wreck and all of the little kids were ejected and died and HE LIVED! Guess why?! He was WEARING HIS SEATBELT! I'm trying to find the article but I know he had 8 kids total and I believe at least 4 died in crash.

OMG Rebecca!! That is awful! He took the time to buckle himself in but not his children!! I can't believe some people. My SIL was having a hard time keeping her little guy in his seat and she actually had someone install and extra seatbelt that had a clip he couldn't reach so that she could keep him buckled in. Car safety is really important.

I'm thinking he put it on himself out of habit. Loser got sentenced to prison for the rest of his life but not good enough for him. If it were me, I'd wish I left my own belt off also!
Kudos to your sister!
