I don't have a baby yet but my traditional parents started reading to me right away (or rather I can't remember a time when they didn't). They would read to me before I went to sleep. As I got older they switched to novels. I think they stopped when I was about 10 but that was my choice (I was one of those kids who always wanted to grow up). I think I'll be doing the same with my child

read to your children? Yes
What time of day do you read? Mostly in the afternoon. My brain isn't on reading in the mornings and my brain goes into overload at night.
What age was your child when you began? Little Ernest is only 3 months and I started reading to him at 2 or 3 weeks. It seemed to have calm him while I was breastfeeding him.

We read to her almost everyday. No set time..just whenever she seems like she in the mood. I have been reading to her from birth..though it is much more fun now that she is so engaged. What we do is give her a small board book to hold and play with while we read another book to her..that usually keeps her from trying to tear the pages or grab the book away.

I think reading is very important, no matter what age your child is. I am a soon to be woking mom, and I think that is going to our time, mine and my baby, he will be home with Daddy all day long, so bath, reading and bed time will be mommies time.

You know, it's funny, I was just talking to DH about this today! I realized that I read to Reilly and Declan an average of four times a day! A Bible story at breakfast, some sort of story at lunch time, usually part of a chapter book (we're reading Paddington right now), a story at nap time, and they each get one at bedtime!
Wow!
