At what age did you give or do you plan on giving your child cereal? Did you ro do you spoon feed or put it in their bottle? We've been talking about this in my playroom, but I wanted to see what you ladies thought.

I think Grace is getting close to being ready because she stares down our food while we're eating. I am going to bring it up at ounr next appt on Jan. 23. It'll be her 4 month check up.

1st of all let me say every doctor is different some say you HAVE to wait until 6 mos, others different, our pedi is very old school and had my son eating cereal at 2 weeks using a spoon, he loved it and has always done really well with it.

My pediatrician is very hands off when it comes to most decisions that aren't medical. She's great about giving me information on all sides then leaves the decision to me.

Anyway, i started River on oatmeal at 4 months, a week later i added 1/2 a jar of fruit. I give him one "meal" a day usually at lunch time. Once we've gone through all the fruits i will add veggies. I do not want to increase the number of meals he has until he's 6 months. Until then, i just consider this practice.

He was definetly ready though and like your dd constantly stared at us eating or drinking and even opened his mouth!

Good luck!

We waited till my daughter was 6 months old. I had read up about starting solids earlier and the risks. I read, and heard from my doctor that started solids earlier can lead to obesity, increased food allergies, and diabetes. So for us the decision was pretty clear to wait.

I believe that we started our son on cereal when he was four months old. I have read so many different things as far as when to start them.

My sisters all started their kids on solids around one month, but the norm nowadays seems to be 4 months and older.

Don't know what we will do....

Riley is 3 1/2 months old and he started eating Rice Cereal from a spoon before he turned 3 months. He loves it and now eats it twice a day along with his bottles.

Brandon's four month check up is on the 30th so I'm gonna ask about it then. I think it's time for him to start. He's constantly eating and it never seems to be enough. I will *probably* go with what the dr recommends. My SIL and cousin use the same pedi and my cousin started her son at 4 mo on cereal and my SIL was recommend to wait until 6 mo...so who knows.
