Will your kiddo(s) most likely ride a schoolbus to school?

Do you think schoolbuses should have seatbelts? Please explain your response if you feel comfortable.

Unless we move, DS will not be riding a bus to school. We drive him to school and pick him up b/c we live out of the district.

I do not think that regular school buses for normal school aged children (not 4 years or younger) do not need seat belts. They have compartmentalization which works just fine. Buses are extremely safe. Of course injuries may on the rare chance happen in an accident, but the same would be for your child in a carseat installed perfectly. We just take that risk when we put our child in a vehicle.

Unless we move we are walking distance to the school and they won't have to take a bus.

I don't see any need for seatbelts on school buses. I rode the bus when I was in school and always felt safe, and I ride the city buses with the kids now and I think they are fine the way they.

Sam goes to a special ed preschool right now and would take the bus back and forth if we wanted him to. First semester, he rode the bus to a sitter's after school. He was restrained due to his age (3).

While I think seatbelts could make the environment safer, I don't think it's possible with teh way the seats are currently made. How many of us can remember having to sit 3 to a seat? you can do 3 seatbelts in those seats, they're too narrow.
