What makes Traditional Parenting the right style for you?: My husband and I agree that children need to be taught how to be successful adults, not just children happy in the moment (not that our children aren't happy, they are VERY much so). Children need independence, and a the reassurance that Mom and Dad are right there if they really need them. Not to be coddled their whole way to adulthood, where they then find that life is HARD.

Fave Color: Pink
Fave Food: Tough one. Make myself: Meatloaf. Going out: Five cheese Ziti al Forno with salad and breadsticks from the Olive Garden, lol. There are only two 'restaraunts' on the island, if you could even call them that.
Fave Dessert: Black tie mousecake, from Olive Garden
Fave Author/Book: Another toughie. Janette Oke writes historical Christian fiction. She's my favorite author by far.

Fave TV show: Deadliest Catch. We live in Dutch Harbor, AK
fave Movie genre: Comedy or romantic comedy. Family friendly movies.

Sports teams you follow(if you do): We are originally from Oregon, and we follow the football teams from the University of Oregon, and more importantly Oregon State! And we are fans of the New England Patriots as well. Oh, and the Tri-City Americans (hockey) from Washington state, lol. We love sports!

What makes Traditional Parenting the right style for you?: Well, as mentioned in my thread, I wasn't sure totally it was the right definition for the type of parenting we use. But, now I think it is the closest thing. I agree with most of the others on this question. Children are way too cheeky and spoiled these days. We strongly feel around our home that the old fashioned ways are best bc most children acted like much better citizens back in the old days and had morals and strong character.

Fave Color: Peach
Fave Food: Chocolate cake
Fave Dessert: See above
Fave Author/Book: F. Scott Fitzgerald

Fave TV show: Don't have cable. I like Ghost Hunters on HULU though
fave Movie genre: Comedy

Age: 23
Family Status (SO+kids): DF Chris, 23 .... Seth, 6, Caspar, 3 and Toby, nearly 11 months

What makes Traditional Parenting the right style for you?: Its the way we were both raised. I am a teacher and too many kids are too cheeky and rude these days because no one has ever said no to them. I do not want my children to turn into disrespectful human beings and so I feel traditional parenting is the best way to achieve this.

Fave Color: Blue
Fave Food: Its easier to say what I don't like, which is coconut
Fave Dessert: tiramisu
Fave Author/Book: Jodi Picoult

Fave TV show: Supersize vs Superskinny
fave Movie genre: Thriller

What makes Traditional Parenting the right style for you?H and I believe that without boundries kids grow up to be spoiled young adults who can't take responsibilty for their actions. We believe that consequences are a natural part of life. We also believe that while punishement is necessary so is praise and that children need privleges AND responsibility.
