sorry about this slightly morbid question, but today is 13 years since my Grandad died.. and it got me wondering how many of us still have Grandparents who are with us?
Also, does anyone have a Grandparent they never had the chance to meet?
Both of my Grandfathers have passed away, but both of my Grandmothers are still alive.... one in her late sixties, the other in her early eighties
I never had the chance to meet my Dads father, he died when Dad was 12... he was an amazing man too, survived through prisoner of war camps and everything... then got home and had a heart attack....
My father's mother is still alive, but that's it. Oh, and I have two living stepgrandparents. DH also has one grandmother still alive, so Jenny has two great-grandmothers, one step-great-grandmother, and one step-great-grandfather.
All my grandparents are still alive. I have a Great-Grandma I've never met, because she and my grandma stopped speaking in like the 1950's. My other great grandparents started passing away when I was a year old, and most recently my Great-Grandma who I was closest to passed two summers ago.
I never got to meet my fathers mother. She passed away from an overdose about 11 yrs before I was born.
My other grandparents I met. My two grandpas have passed. Dads father died of natural causes in 2000/2001( for some reason I cant recall other than it was February). My moms father passed away July 2009 suddenly, without warning.
He was a big influence on our entire family so he is missed almost daily by most of us. My dads father was older and distant so we never got to be a big part of his life.
